    Question Best thing to eat/drink during INTERMITTENT FASTING to to give energy (1.5k Reps)

    I know i can only have 30-40 calories during my fast. What can i eat/drink for energy ?

    I just read that black coffee on its own has basically no caloric content and one serving of sugar is only 16 calories. So can i just have 1-2 black coffees with 1 sugar in each of them coupled with green tea/water throughout the 16 hours of fasting?

    I'm also not taking BCAA's atm but i get the feeling i should be..

    Haven't done IF but If you can take coffee on an empty stomach go for it srs. Drinking coffee on empty stomach gets me tweaking

    Black coffee followed by 20-25mls of grape juice. Srs, it will wash out the taste of the coffee instantly and 20 ,ls of grape juice = 5 cals.

    Bro you have to drink lots of water and I used quite a bit of green tea during mine. ONE black coffee in the morning is ok. I personally wouldnt do it but a lot of people like 'bulletproof coffee' which is basically a shot of espresso mixed with butter and/or coconut oil. Plenty of energy in there but breaks the fast in my opinion. Otherwise go with your long black. Could also try splenda or stevia instead of sugar if you are worried about that.

    As far as BCAA's go they are absolutely essentail IMO. They will help in sparing or even adding muscle and you need them especially if you are doing fasted morning training sessions. I used scivation xtend and a full serve in water can even fill you up a bit.

    You will be low on energy brah, just how it is but if you get your adequate calories in a dinner time and try those few things you should get used to it.

    Been IFing 18 months.

    I see you're Ausbrah so we do not have access to the luxuries of those Crystal Light packets.

    I drink about 8-10 cup Black Coffee a day, but if you don't like coffee, pick up those home-brand Diet Orange-Mango or Diet Lemon drinks from Coles. They cost $0.80c for a 1.25L bottle, taste great, and I'm pretty sure each bottle is under 10 kcal.

    I used to drink these all the time back when I was Alternate Day Fasting and eating every second day, often going 48 hrs+ without food. They are really cheap and tasty as fuark. You might want to consider drinking it with a straw to protect dat dere tooth enamel if you start drinking a lot, though.

    Green Tea, Water, Coffee...that's basically what I drink during my fasts. The BCAA's are supposedly necessary. I've yet to use them because i'm usually energized when I lift while fasted

    i drink coffee with sweetener and a bit of cream, around 30 cals total. and then i drink coke zeros and low cal energy drinks until the end of the fast. most days im ok through the fast.

    I'd definitely go stevia opposed to Splenda.. Not 100% but off the top of my head I think Splenda is loaded with maltodextrin which wouldn't be ideal during the fast.

    I'll drink about 2 cups of black coffee with some stevia in the morning and then a lot of water through out the day, but we're I mix it up is I might drink water by itself or I buy a lot of those Mio squirt things... They have raspberry lemonade, sweet tea, some green thunder(taste like red bull IMO), they have a variety of flavors some are even energy ones....plus there zero calories. Side note I also take bcaas

    I rate BCAAs, got Xtend as per the leangains guy's recommendation and noticed a good difference in workout and recovery.

    A high fat low carb diet(50-150g carb/day) also helps in getting on that ketone time, which will give you heaps of energy during the fasted period.

    Otherwise I just have black coffee, sometimes with a little milk, or tea.
