    Weekly Calorie Count - Bulk

    Hi,

I am going on a bulk but i am also very conscious of gaining fat so i am starting with a 200-300 surplus, to be adjusted accordingly.

My question is, how accurate is everybody in their daily macro and calorie count? I am thinking that if i estimated my macros and calories to within a few % of the target and then on the last day i would eat as much or as little as required to hit the weekly figures.

Does anyone else do anything similar? Is this likely to affect my gains in any way?

Then don't bulk. You're going to spin your wheels and get nowhere until you get the fear of fat gain out of your head.

To answer your question, I do this. I used to intentionally calorie-cycle to allow larger meals on the weekends but I don't anymore because I think it might have been affecting my gains. But small fluctuations day to day are no big deal.

Wait a minute, wait a minute. You say you fear fat gain and want to maintain a minimal surplus of 200-300 but yet want to estimate your cals and macros? It's not that complicated to track. Using mfp it literally takes me less than 5 minutes a day to track what I ate for the day.

Find a calorie surplus that gets you gaining at 1/2 to a pound max per week and stick with it. The rest of up to genetics.

Maybe i would be better re-phrasing, would it make a difference counting the macros weekly with some slight daily fluctuations as opposed to being 100% accurate each day. The weekly total would be the same.

Im prepared (and fully expect) to gain some fat but i dont want to go 'balls out' and gain a ridiculous amount. Lots of guys on here suggest 200-300 surplus to begin with to minimise fat gains.

It won't matter unless you're stupid about it. If you eat 10,000 calories one day and eat nothing the next two, you'll probably not have good results compared to eating 3,333 calories per day.
