Do push ups actually make you bigger?

Say you did 150 push ups 5 days a week, how long would it take to see big results?

I did a ton of push ups for about three months and i noticed pretty nice results about four to five days a week, results vary for everyone and you must consider your diet. You could also vary up the reps by putting weights in a backpack and doing pushups.

True, true. I wouldn't expect someone to get ultra huge compared to body building, but I should've said "Will I still get muscles and look more 'toned' out"

You're all going to flame me for this routine but I used to do pushups 5x a week for 5 months. It worked in sets of 3 weeks starting with 20 pushups a day; week 1 feet raised 1 foot off ground, week 2 raised 3 feet, week 3 raised 4 feet. Then week 4 would add 10 pushups and restart at 1 foot off the ground. Within two months, my traps grew about 3-4 inches, my chest got slightly bigger, and triceps grew a decent amount.

I continued this routine until I hit 100 pushups (20x5) a day, with minimal additional results, and then stopped.

Push ups are useless unless you are on unfit motherfukker.
Why would you do 100 reps of ANYTHING multiple days a week? Unless you're training for a world record, forget about it. Push ups could be an effective exercise if weight was added to them, but those should be a last resort as any form of flat bench press kicks the **** out of them.

If you traps grew 3-4 inches, you must have no neck.

Well considering I had no traps to begin with, it was good progress. And when I say I had no traps, I literally couldn't even pump them up.

Why did your traps grow so effectively from a chest/tri/shoulder exercise? One would automatically assume that a back muscle would grow with a back exercise.

As I wrote, I was doing them with my feet raised, so it targeted more of my back than a normal pushup would.

    Approximately at that angle;

all who think that bodyweight is useless here's something that should make you think twice. This guy looks better than 90% of the lifters ive seen in person and it's not only him it's his whole crew. Even a 65 year old man looks great from near 1000 push ups and hundreds of pull ups a day. I wouldn't do it unless i didn't have money but it can work, and before people say chicken legs, if you don't have access to weights...Build your own sled or do hill sprints. Some MMA fighters have tree trunk legs from hill sprints alone. Again i wouldn't do it cuz I love strength training with heavy weights but it can be done.

Of course bodyweight exercises are gunna build muscle. If you increase intensity and resistance you can get a decent size.(You probably won't with legs though) But lifting will simply get you there quicker and further

Some people say no some say yes. The best example is look at the dudes that are in prison that only do bodyweight exercises and are pretty massive. I assume they do more than just pushups but it still slightly helps.

This. But I doubt you'd get even decent size from push ups.. I guess it depends on what you mean by decent.

They usually would have a bench press.

Personally, doing push-ups for me, just gives me a good pump in my chest for 5 minutes...
I like to do it at the end of my workout as a good burnout, just to be sure my triceps are done and still capable of handling my bw.
But like others have said, different for everyone.
