Just root vegetables, because they are higher in sugar. But others no.
Then again, I'm strongly against tracking every little phuckin thing. Inb4 **** storm."Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint."

guesstimate and round up. Once you use MFP for a while you get pretty good at this and I eat out a lot so get plenty of practice of getting this down. For my bid deficient days i am at round 1K cals below maintenance. So a -/+ of 200 calories i can handle

I like Grace's Habanero hot sauce. Pretty much don't use anything else now when I make Tex-Mex/Mexican food since anything else (including Sriracha) is too mild.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

it really came down to this for me. Tracking aint something I want to be doing forever, in fact it's absurd to even suggest it. At first it was scary attempting to gain weight without micromanaging, but I looked at it like this - it is inevitable that I learn to eat without tracking if I ever want to live a somewhat normal life, so this for me was a challenge to learn to trust my instinct. Basically get over my OCD/ED behaviour, because that's really what it had become (for me anyway)
Quite honestly... life has improved 10 fold since... I didn't realise how much it held me back until I stopped. And of course I'm not trying to suggest everyone is like this, it's just IME so feel free to disregard
what perp says still holds true I think though, if I'm going to cut again I think tracking would be very useful in that scenario.

Sounds good. Did you gradually take a more relaxed approach (like just guessing the amounts of food and adding it up during the day), or just disregard the whole calorie concept all together? I'm bulking now and it might be useful to monitor food intake at first, but not for too long if possible.
Iron, sometimes it sets my teeth on edge, other times it helps me control the chaos.

when I stopped tracking my main goal wasn't 'bulking' or 'cutting', instead my primary goal was to eat when I was hungry - I wanted to learn to trust my own hunger signals again because that is something I haven't done in god knows how long (because trusting my hunger signals is what got me to fat fuk status in the first place lol). Basically I said to myself 'whenever I feel hungry I will eat, and I will eat WHATEVER I want - without regard for macros/micros etc. But once I feel satiated I will stop... no overindulging'. So that's exactly what I did... and you know what? I absolutely did not eat enough, but I think that's a combination of a) I was still apprehensive about trusting my own hunger signals, and b) since cutting I've gotten used to smaller meals, so just not large enough meals in general. Anyway, it takes time and now that I'm actively trying to gain it's all the more fun and the only difference now is that I actively make sure to get in a good 4-5 meals per day. I still apply the rule 'I will eat whatever I want' - just now I make sure I'm getting adequate protein in each meal.
