New York to ban big sodas
From Ronni Berke, CNN

The ban would apply to sodas and other sugary drinks
Those larger than 16 ounces could not be sold
The ban applies to restaurants and food carts, not grocery stores
New York (CNN) -- New York City is poised to ban the sale of large-sized sodas and other sugary beverages in an effort to combat rising obesity rates, a city official said Thursday.
The ban would outlaw the sale of such drinks larger than 16 ounces from restaurants, food carts and any other establishment that receives a letter grade for food service. It would not apply to grocery stores.
The New York City Board of Health will vote on the measure in June.
Broad public health initiatives have become a hallmark of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration. Under Bloomberg, the city has banned trans fats from restaurants, smoking from parks, and has placed graphic ads targeting junk food and tobacco in public transit.

Yet NYC legalized the unlimited viewing of child pornography.
NYC doesn't have a lot of fat people anyways. Everytime I get back to NYC from another state I am always surprised at how thin most NYers are.*Stopped smoking crew* 2 years and 5 month bishes, and counting.*

This, exactly this. Socialism/facism for the win. I don't drink soda at all, I used to, but still it's a principle thing. This is completely wrongheaded. Yet another brilliant move by lawmakers. Really, can we just ban or remove from existence all politicians and, you know, actually go by the constitution here for once?

Not sure I agree with it or not, but there are 49 other states to move to if people really want their large sodas/trans fat that badly. Gotta admit something has to be done in this country, and fattys aren't going to do it on their own(Hint: they're driving the cost of insurance for everyone through the roof)

NYC isn't a city full of fatties though. This is just a way for NYC to hire more bureaucrats and the food and drink police to fine any restaurants in non compliance imo. We gotta pay for our very generous social programs and the lazy ass government employees somehow.
As for moving out of NYC, many already have and there are more leaving on a daily basis due to the high COL, taxes and just the general feeling that NYC is a farking dump.*Stopped smoking crew* 2 years and 5 month bishes, and counting.*
