I want to hear the best excuses on the misc as to why people don't do any kind of free weight squat or even air squat.

Why don't you squat?

i squat. the reason why im consider stopping is because i have left right imbalances i may not be able to fix, and because i can make better gains in terms of hypertrophy with more targeted movements.
squats are amazing for athletes and people looking to improve general health, but lettuce be cereal, aesthetically speaking they are ridiculously overrated. Will you still rep me when I'm no longer age:20 and aesthetic?

I have a leg length discrepancy of about an inch (slipped capital femoral epiphysis). Stuck doing lunges, Single leg leg press etc. Everytime I start to add weight to my skqwat I just hurt my back and get extreme imbalances.

It produces too much test...

Squats and Dl's used to be staples for my leg day and I loved them, about 4 years ago now I started to get absolutely horrendous pinching/stabbing pain in my hips from either of these lifts. Being 19 at the time and not really thinking ahead I kept pushing through the pain up until the point where I was in agonizing pain almost 100% of the time. Took quite a few specialists to figure out what was really going on with the hip pain I was experiencing, I had shredded the Labrum in my hip to pieces, knocked a chunk of cartilage loose in my hip the size of a quarter which then wrecked havoc on the remaining cartilage. This occurred due to an underlying condition I had called Femoral Acetabular Impingement. Anyways, two hip surgeries later the problem is still getting worse and my hips are bone on bone in places (no cartilage). I'm now going through the motions of getting a resurfacing done (hopefully bi-lateral) so that I can have some sort of quality of life restored.
Needless to say squats and deadlifts are out of the question along with quite a few other lifts, unless of course I'm feeling like a masochistic. I still manage to get by with some isolation and limited ROM stuff for leg day.
