Using Whey as main protein source?

    Hey,

i'm currently on a cut and i'm wondering wether i could start to use diet whey as my main protein source?

i currently use phd diet whey, gives you 35g of protein a serving with 8g of carbs and cla, L-carnitine and green tea extract.

It fills me up quite well, only is 200kcal a shake, tastes nice enough and is acctually cheaper than buying loads of chicken..

So my question is to yous, would it be a good idea to drink say 3 or 4 shakes a day of this? and use it as my main protein source?

No, chicken, pork, occasional red meat and ground beef (lean) would be a lot better

Probably not a good idea. Getting nutrition from food is going to yield better results than just downing shakes all day. There is a reason those protein shakes are called "supplements". They are supposed to supplement what you already eat during the day, not replace it.

i know it would be better, but it is always a drag for me to eat so much of it, and i rather the shakes, i only plan on doing this for a couple of weeks to drop a few pounds for holidays, i just can stick to a diet better composed more of shakes, plus it takes up less calories! in another way of putting it, would it be bad for me?

I mean, it wouldn't be terrible. But you would be missing out on MANY nutrients that actual food provides, that shakes just don't have. If you decide to go this route, you shouldn't do it for any excessive period of time.

I'll still be eating some solid food for protein, just most of it will be from shakes, it'll be for at most a 5 week period it'll keep the calories alot lower so i'll lose a bit more weight on the cut hopefully!

All of these people are wrong. Whey is an excellent source of protein and has a better amino acid profile than most meats. You can use it as your main source if that is your preference.

Cheers, well i'm going to split it about 50/50 or maybe 60/40 in favour of whey.. it's just generally easier to eat for me

You can use it as a main protein source, but not as a meal replacement. Basically, you can get 150 grams of protein from whey, but you still have to eat food to get fats and some carbs if they fit in your diet.
