thats always the case with sports, when you have countries who hire a team of chemists to help their athletes get around tests its pretty easy to do. They are at an advantage because not only do they know how the tests work and usually when they will be they also can pay off people-like lance armstrong did- Its a corrupt business and they only bust a few people each year to show the tests work-which is true you can't be stupid and some athletes do take chances outside what their coaches are telling them to do-

It is mostly used to enhance recovery, allow them to tolerate more volume of work and MOSTLY for tendon strethening/repair. Sprinters are like F1 racing cars: high performance but break VERY easily. A common approach is 4-6IU EOD.

    - Insulin (mostly humalog or novolog). This is to facilitate recovery by enhancing glycogen resynthesis following training. It isn't used all the time; mostly after the most grueling training days (e.g. a day where they would have both high volume track work and strength training)... sprinters normally strength train 3 or 4 days a week, so they use insulin 3-4 days a week on average.

    - EPO. The role of EPO for improving endurance is well known. For that reason it is mostly associated with endurance athletes and it is often assumed that it doesn't give anything to the power/strength athlete. That is not true. EPO allows one to tolerate a greater overall volume of work and increases the rate of recovery. In performance athletics, drugs are mostly used to allow the athlete to train more often and with more volume.

    - Testosterone. Some synthetic steroids might be used far away from competition (if the athlete doesn't live in a country that conducts random testing) but testosterone is the most comonly used AAS to improve strength and power. It is much easier to pass the drug tests when using testosterone, especially since some natural compounds can decrease the testo/Epitesto ratio that is used to test for testostetone use. A lot of athletes can get away with 50mg of testosterone propionate or suspension every 3 days without testing positive... some races can even use much higher doses of testosterone than that because they lack the enzyme UGT2B17 which increases testosterone excretion in the urine. Approximately 60% of Asians have very low levels of this enzyme. More than 50% of the individuals having low levels of enzymes can take 300-400mg of testosterone per week and not test positive.

Obviously athletes from countries with a rich track and field support program use more exotic compounds that are harder to detect."

What an absolute load of bullsh*t.
I know podium level sprinters from when I used to sprint and none of them were on sh*t.
I was the tiniest dude there in terms of mass. Everyone was jacked as fuark and I was the slowest and I my PR was sub 12 ( 11.89 ) electronically timed.

edit: PR 11.89 but 12.30 electronic.
    My bad. Dat difference.

Biggest f**king lie known to man. They train your core and balance into an absolute oblivion.
And they mostly look at your form and train your endurance. If you were trained sprinting and just had to pant like crazy, you got lucky.
Sprint circuit training was worse than boxing circuit training...far...far worse.

not necessarily. i met a woman whose personal record was 4:47 for the mile. she was short... around 5ft 2. its more about the mind body connection and proper running form. a person whose 5ft 2 who can move her legs faster than a person who is 5ft 10 can out run the longer legged person.

    Just a side note:

The shorter you are, the better your start and acceleration (stride length and frequency).
The taller you are, the more superior your pacing (and if your stride is perfect, top speed).
So basically, when you get to the 60M mark, thats when tall brahs really show what they got.
The thing with 100M and podium+ level sprinters is that they don't even hit top speed properly. And that is what makes them so scary.
When I started hitting speeds that would make people go "wtf man" on the road with my friends, it felt fuarking good man.
I haven't trained in AGES but I'd be able to do 13.50 easily in 100M right now.
Atleast my genetics can do something right.

    I digress...
When you train, they mostly focus on what your weakness would typically be rather than placing emphasis on your strengths.
I never got my running form quite perfect and I allowed my shoulders to droop a bit, my coaches hated me for that.
One day Ill go back to my academy and make sure to finish what I started lmao.

Ummmm... world records exist for a reason.
Michael Johnson still holds the world record for the 400m.

Hmm, I just read an interesting Wikipedia article... Makes me really think race, primarily West-Africans, are superior.

I'm Chinese... of the billions of Asians, no one has done it... feelsbadman.jpg

The 10-second barrier was first officially broken by American athlete Jim Hines on 14 October 1968. He ran a time of 9.95 seconds to win the 100 metres at the 1968 Olympics, setting a new world record. Nearly all the sprinters who have beaten the 10-second barrier are of West African descent. Namibian (formerly South-West Africa) Frankie Fredericks became the first man of non-West African heritage to achieve the feat in 1991 and in 2003 Australia's Patrick Johnson (who has Irish and Indigenous Australian heritage) became the first sub-10-second runner without an African background. Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre became the first white European under ten seconds in 2010 (although Poland's Marian Woronin had unofficially surpassed the barrier with a time of 9.992 seconds in 1984). In 2011, Zimbabwean Ngonidzashe Makusha became the 76th man to break the barrier, yet only the fourth man not of West African descent. No sprinter of predominantly Asian or East African descent has officially achieved this feat.

It's already been established that West Africans have more fast twitch muscles blah blah blah which makes them ideal for sports like sprinting over other races.

You would think with the billions of Asians out there, one would have a beneficial genetic mutation in his/her favor to have "overly developed" fast twitch muscle fibers.

Maybe there is an Asian out there with good sprinting abilities, but he/she has not realized or utilized that potential hah

edit: fuk on r/c. everybody rep this man

one of the other guys mentioned why there aren't any asians in elite sprinting/ sports. yes genetics is a major factor and disadvantage compared to east africans and african americans, but indeed there would be those genetic freaks in a population of a few billion as well. the problem is that there aren't ANY programs or emphasis on bringing up athletic ability in these countries, for someone to succeed their best bet is to study and get a decent job. being successful in sport isn't viewed as an option and a big risk, only the rich have the resources to focus on sports- after all, the majority of the population is either in poverty or just middle class

Damn, this was a good read: http://www.boxingsocialist.com/profi...mment%3A150466

Here are some of the most alarming parts:

"SPIEGEL: So the idea that sports are a fair competition within established rules actually died long ago?

Heredia: Yes, of course. Unless we were to go back to ancient times. Without television, without Adidas and Nike. It’s obvious: if you finish in 8th place at a big event, you get $5,000; if you finish first you get $100,000. Athletes think about this. Then they think that everyone else dopes anyway, and they are right. And you think athletes believe in morals and ideals? Peak performances without doping are a fairytale, my friend."

"SPIEGEL: Is there doping at every level of athletics?

Heredia: Yes, the only difference is the quality of the doping. Athletes with little money use simple steroids and hope they don’t get tested. The stars earn 50,000 dollars a month, not including starting bonuses and shoe sponsorship contracts. The very best invest 100,000 dollars – I’ll then build you a designer drug that can’t be detected."

"SPIEGEL: Are there still any clean disciplines?

Heredia: Track and field, swimming, cross-country skiing and cycling can no longer be saved. Golf? Not clean either. Soccer? Soccer players come to me and say they have to be able to run up and down the touchline without becoming tired, and they have to play every three days. Basketball players take fat burners – amphetamines, ephedrin. Baseball? Haha. Steroids in pre-season, amphetamines during the games. Even archers take downers so that their arm remains steady. Everyone dopes."
