The teams he faced to get there were the sorriest excuse for NBA teams one could imagine. The Sixers sucked too but man that road to the Lakers was a fcking cakewalk. You think MIA has an easy road this year? Go back in time and catch some of those games. AI was ballin out of control but please respect the players who held him down on that team.
Fact: Allen Iverson's defensive is worlds behind his offense. Steals are important, but more important still is locking your man down, blocking shots, and grabbing key rebounds which Wade has obviously proven himself better at season after season after season.

lol at using the 01 finals to cover up the rest of his career
76ers were terrible after that iverson couldnt carry his team
season after iverson leaves they get andre miller and improve...make the playoffs next year
iverson goes to denver.......garbage........ he leaves they go to the conference finals
iverson goes to the pistons a team that went to the conference finals like 5 years in a row.....they become garbage

I can't really knock AI, but in his prime Wade was a better player. Better defender and a more efficient offensive player while not being a malcontent, chemistry killer. Wade's prime was likely 2005-2008 when he never took a play off and didn't cry for a foul after a play did not go his way. During AI's prime he was talking about "practice". Wade is probably already the 4th-5th best SG of all time, while AI is probably 7th-8th. Although he's past his prime, Wade still has a chance to move up while AI can't. Then again Wade has looked pretty "prime" the last 4 games. Less complaining and more balling.

As I said sarcastically before, the people who are Pro Iverson have such good arguments.
The ironic thing is, a person who likes Allen Iverson over Wade is more likely to be young. I find people who rate Iverson very high watched Iverson when they were at a very impressionable age, and they were likely not as analytical when watching sports 10 years ago as they are now (assuming they are even analytical at all). I think a person who is pretty old who watched Iverson during his prime was likely not as impressed as someone who was 5-17.
And really, Allen Iverson was in the NBA like 2 years ago, why are people pretending like people here have not seen him play lol. Yeah, 2002 was so far ago, holy ****, you could have sworn we were talking about George Mikan the way people are pulling the "you were too young card", most of which are even younger than I am.Access the gun's off the earth axis

So how old were you when you were watching game film of the 2001 finals???
During the 2000–01 season, Iverson led his team to wins in the first ten games of the season, and was named starter at the 2001 NBA All-Star Game, where he won the game MVP. The Sixers also posted a 56–26 record, the best in the Eastern Conference that season. He also averaged a then-career high 31.1 points, winning his second NBA scoring title in the process. Iverson won the NBA steals title at 2.5 a game. Iverson was named NBA Most Valuable Player; at 6 feet and 165 pounds, he became the shortest and lightest player to win the MVP award. He had 93 first-place votes out of a possible 124.[22] He was also named to the All NBA First team for his accomplishments. In the playoffs, Iverson and the Sixers defeated the Indiana Pacers in the first round, before meeting Vince Carter-led Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Semifinals. The series went the full seven games. In the next round, the Sixers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, also in seven games, to advance to the 2001 NBA Finals against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, featuring the duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.
Iverson led the Sixers to their first finals since their 1983 championship. In game one of the 2001 NBA Finals, Iverson scored a playoff high 48 points and beat the heavily favored Lakers 107–101; it was the Lakers' only playoff loss that year. In the game he notably stepped over Tyronn Lue after hitting a crucial shot.[23] Iverson would go on to score 23, 35, 35, 37 in games 2–5, all losing efforts though the Sixers were not swept like many predicted. Iverson enjoyed his most successful season as an individual and as a member of the Sixers during the 2000–01 NBA season.
Sweet stats either way for Iverson. Was fun to watch and always played his heart out. Not nearly as big as Wade and was tiny compared to most on the court but accomplished some amazing things.I live in Cincinnati. Please do not associate me with Cleveland in sports misc

Well, some of those things in bold are rather dubious.
- Winning the scoring title isn't really worth bragging about. Dwayne Wade could win a scoring title, he certainly has come close. Just a matter of circumstance.
- Iverson leading the league in steals is very misleading, he lead the league because he had a great defensive unit, so he could afford to gamble a lot.
- Iverson was gifted MVP. He was the new wing player, the new Jordan, even I thought he was cool . Allen Iverson is not nearly as good as peak Tim Duncan and Shaq, he really did not deserve his MVP at all.Access the gun's off the earth axis

Cant compare to shaq or duncan since its a totally different position.
So what about the defensive plays that lebron and wade do??? They gamble all of the time because they are on a good defensive unit. Both of them do the weakside blocks all the time since the rotation will cover their un-guarded man they left.
Was Lebron gifted MVP this season?? His own team doesn't even trust him to take the final shot. Wade does.
Also lebron was in the same situation with the cavs that AI had with the sixers. Going into the finals against a far superior team. Bron got swept and averaged like 20 a game.I live in Cincinnati. Please do not associate me with Cleveland in sports misc

Of course you can, you can certainly say that a Center is better than a Guard. To counter my point of Iverson not being the best player in the league with the "he plays guard, the other guys play center" is ridiculous. Tim Duncan is very clearly a superior player to Allen Iverson as is Shaq. That is like saying you can't say Dwight Howard is better than Russel Westbrook because one is a center and one is a guard.
So what about the defensive plays that lebron and wade do??? They gamble all of the time because they are on a good defensive unit. Both of them do the weakside blocks all the time since the rotation will cover their un-guarded man they left.
And Wade is still a great help defender, it is not like when he leaves his man the entire rotation is always messed up. Allen Iverson doesn't provide nearly as much help as Wade does, and Iverson was more wreckless when he chose to leave his man in my opinion.
Was Lebron gifted MVP this season?? His own team doesn't even trust him to take the final shot. Wade does.
1) James has nothing to do with Wade vs Iverson.
2) Your point doesn't even counter my point, it is actually irrelevant.
3) There is no connection between being the best or most "valuable" player in the league and taking the final shot, that is just a pretty narrative that the media and sports fans have made up. I don't know about the last shot, but I am pretty sure the Heat trust James.
4) Lebron James still takes a lot of the "last shots".
5) It would be nice if someone could debate about James with out pointing out how clutch or un-clutch he is. It is a rather thin argument to derail everything he is great at. Though, again, James has nothing to do with this debate.
Also lebron was in the same situation with the cavs that AI had with the sixers. Going into the finals against a far superior team. Bron got swept and averaged like 20 a game.Access the gun's off the earth axis

Wade was more effective. Yes, that is undeniably true. But are you seriously using shooting percentage to justify that?
Is the sports misc really this dumb? Who the phuck uses shooting percentage when arguing effectiveness? That's like someone using batting average to compare baseball player's effectiveness.

LOL because AI retired in 2001 and didn't play another 8 years.
I've read through 4 pages of a bunch of bull**** from casual NBA fans re-using the same comments they got from ESPN.
The question isn't "Which player you'd want to buuld around?" The question was which player was better in their prime.
Seems like everybody who voted understands this, while everybody who has posted is talking about how they'd rather have Wade on their team.A paradox.

I have never seen so many people judge a plyer they clearly SHOW OVER AND OVER that they never saw.
Does anynone here remember prime iverson?
You are fkng HIGH if you think Wade is better. Period. This thread is phucking stupid. Wade is not as good as iverson. Period.
Shut up. Calling AI a defensive liability or shaq a defensive liability is the dumbest sht I've read in days on this board. And that is saying A LOT.

The fact that his career took place WELL BEFORE anyone posting here would've seen it means you can't properly comment on it.
How about you tell me about the subtle intricacies of Jerry Wests game? Oh what's that? You DIDNT WATCH HIM PLAY AND CAN'T COMMENT ON IT?
Weird. All the morons in this thread claiming Wade is some superior version of Iverson are sadly mistaken. Allen Iverson was an amazing all around player.

Everybody caught up in the moment because Wade is healthy, playing great, & Miami is on their way to another NBA Finals.
Forgetting the reason why he tanked a season to possibly get Rose or Beasley.
Forgetting the reason why Wade begged and pleaded with LeBron and Bosh to come to Miami.
But a lot of these guys only watch LeBron or Kobe play anyways.A paradox.
