Abstract
OBJECTIVES:
To test the efficacy and safety of oral L-citrulline supplementation in improving erection hardness in patients with mild erectile dysfunction (ED). L-arginine supplementation improves nitric oxide-mediated vasodilation and endothelial function; however, oral administration has been hampered by extensive presystemic metabolism. In contrast, L-citrulline escapes presystemic metabolism and is converted to L-arginine, thus setting the rationale for oral L-citrulline supplementation as a donor for the L-arginine/nitric oxide pathway of penile erection.
METHODS:
In the present single-blind study, men with mild ED (erection hardness score of 3) received a placebo for 1 month and L-citrulline, 1.5 g/d, for another month. The erection hardness score, number of intercourses per month, treatment satisfaction, and adverse events were recorded.
RESULTS:
A total of 24 patients, mean age 56.5 ± 9.8 years, were entered and concluded the study without adverse events. The improvement in the erection hardness score from 3 (mild ED) to 4 (normal erectile function) occurred in 2 (8.3%) of the 24 men when taking placebo and 12 (50%) of the 24 men when taking L-citrulline (P < .01). The mean number of intercourses per month increased from 1.37 ± 0.93 at baseline to 1.53 ± 1.00 at the end of the placebo phase (P = .57) and 2.3 ± 1.37 at the end of the treatment phase (P < .01). All patients reporting an erection hardness score improvement from 3 to 4 reported being very satisfied.
CONCLUSIONS:
Although less effective than phosphodiesterase type-5 enzyme inhibitors, at least in the short term, L-citrulline supplementation has been proved to be safe and psychologically well accepted by patients. Its role as an alternative treatment for mild to moderate ED, particularly in patients with a psychologically fear of phosphodiesterase type-5 enzyme inhibitors, deserves further research.

I used amino which is contain both l-arginine and L-Citrulline, but i don't think it's boost my libido or erection that much.
If you try to boost your erection or libido, you should go for testoterone product such as tribulus, t-bomb, etc.
Or another herbal product like yohimbe, tongkat ali, horny goat weed, etc.

Improved diet & sufficient exercise are 2 ways. --> Supplementation of specific compounds is another.
Wrong forum.
I'm no "bodybuilder".... and I'm certainly not a doctor however, it does not take much intelligence to understand that enhancing the NO/cGMP pathway via exogenous antioxidants/supplements thereby improving antioxidant status, vasodilation/NO-distribution, ect. is of much physiological benefit.~
Wherever progression lacks.... regress can be found in abundance.

I had a similar problem but now I can go all night...
Don't take any of them. They both have side effects.
They leave your body toxic, do some research.
Unfortunately, GMO, herbicides, pesticides, additives and preservatives are engineered to reek havoc on our hormone balance.
Tap water is a bandit as well, with the rising levels of contaminants and flour, this alone will disconnect you.
As a pre-diabetic you definitely know about diet.
The first thing that I would do is eat organic libido foods. I am sure you've heard of them.
Stay away from dairy products.
Fast food is a never as it is know to cause E.D.
Filter your tap water with a serious filter.
Detoxing is a must. The liquid surrounding our organs becomes toxic by the time we are 30.
It depends on environment too. Find a good colon detox supplement...
After this treatment you can start to take natural enhancement suppliments.
Try these:
1) tribulus terrestris (0.5 teaspoon)
2) horny goat (1 teaspoon)
3) Maca (1 teaspoon)
4) ginseng (0.5 teaspoon)
5) licorice extract (0.5 teaspoon)
6) hemp protein (1 scoop)
7) orange juice (1 cup)
8) banana (1 large)
Mix together in a blender.
Do this 3 times a day and you should feel the benefits after 2-4 days.
Make sure to get plenty of rest. 6-8 hours of sleep is a must.
Remember, there is nothing wrong with you. These are some of the side effects of rouge population control.
Reverse it...
Good luck!

Real Answer
Older post but I had to answer, to answer your question which amino acid is going to help your erections. L-Citrulline is better for pumps and dilating the blood vessels helping more blood flow than L-Arginine.
So that is your answer, L-Cirtulline will help create better blood flow and pumps. Now how well it'll go to that area vs muscles I do not know, probably the same though.

On a daily basis I started taking 6g of 100% Arginine about 4 weeks ago. A week later I added 6g of 100% Citruline with it daily with 6g 100% Citric Acid to kill the taste of the arginine. I am type 2 diabetic and have ED sometimes so I leave it to her to get me erect but since taking the Arginine and Citruline mix I've been waking in the morning with 'Morning Wood'. I've not done this since the 1990's so it is definitely going to benefit people without diabetes if it has this effect on me.
On days I lift I take my mix an hour before and sometimes I feel mildly stoned which is not ideal with compound lifts. I use this feeling to gauge when it has kicked into my system. It works best on an empty stomach so a pre-workout shake is going to screw around with it, interfere with absorption and also delay it from working when you want it too - during your workout.
For this reason I advise using it for erection aid an hour before bed, and on an empty stomach. An empty stomach means no coffee, beer, food or anything else in the body.
Some workouts it hasn't kicked in and I presume it is down to something still in my gut. It kicks in later which is kinda cool when chilling with my stiffness. It also has my post workout shake mixed with dextrose and Creatine chasing it.
I have also noticed my body hair is thicker since taking my Arginine/Celluline mix with the 6g powdered citrus acid (1kg cost me $10). I also have 1kg of citruline and 1kg of Arginine so they'll all run out at the same time.
I cannot think of any other advice to give on the Arginine.
