    Question about IF

If I follow intermittent fasting let's say not eat anything between 2100 - 1300(16 hours), and in the next 8 hours I eat whatever I want in whatever amount I want, will I still lose fat?

Whether you lose fat or not depends on a calorie deficit, as well as sufficient nutrients and stimulus to maintain muscle. IF doesn't change the rules, it just makes them easier to adhere to.

Makes them easier for some. I personally prefer to eat whenever I feel like eating.

It's all about conveience. You wake up fasted anyway. I just skip a morning meal and break fast on my lunch break, easy peezy lemon squeezy. Still making great progress, better than before actually. Occaisionally I eat in the morning with the family on weekends. Whatever works for you.

Be consistent with cardio, act like me, I skip it EVERYDAY!

Can one weekend of bad eating really ruin a week of dieting? Well, can one quick trip to Vegas ruin 2 months of saving? Same thing basically.

Actually I need some clarification as well since I like working out on an empty stomach in the morning.

According to the the leangains website your first meal post-workout should be the largest if you train fasted. Is that necessary to get the full benefit from IF?

Yes I understand that meal timing is not important and all the basics of nutrition that we regularly discuss around here. However, if I do end up doing IF I want to make sure I get the full benefit out of it, and not just turn it into a variation of IIFYM.

It's IIFYM with a time schedule.
"Never attempt to train yourself into a caloric deficit. Don't spend hours on the treadmill. Diet comes first, cardio second. The dumbest fat loss strategy ever devised is used by people that wake up early in the morning before going to work to do cardio and follow that up with "recovery shake." Congratulations, you just wasted two hours of your life." Martin Berkhan

I like it to be. Is it essential? Probably not. If it's not convenient for you to eat a big meal after training then don't. But you should break your fast soon after training with something.

    IMO.

It's looking like its going to be hard for me to do that. At least right now in the situation im in. It'll pretty much require me to bring a lot of food into work which is not something I want to do. Guess this'll have to wait for a different time.
