Best ways to grind your oats.. How do you do it?

I am wondering how everyone grind oats. I have tried a blender and it seems to take forever to get it into powder form to where it is not almost chunky in the drinks. I had to use a screen to make sure I got rid the chunks. Blending seemed to take almost 5-10 min for a very small batch.

I just use the Magic Bullet but if there's a WinCo near you you can buy the oats already ground up. Hope that helps!

Get a blender that doesn't suck. I used to grind mine in a blender with a few other items, and if there were any chunks, they were very small.

I use my wife's food processor. I can grind up the whole container in a few minutes. The food processor grinds the oats into a fine powder so there are no chunks to choke down.

^^^^^^^^^^This. I use a food processor and do about 1/2 tub at a time.

Recently though....I just got a new Ninja blender. I now use the big blender cup and can almost do a whole tub in one shot.

I'll tell you what......I was not considering buying another blender.....but then I used one at my friends house and was BLOWN AWAY with how good it worked.
It is also easy to clean.... a big plus when you use them as often as I do.

I justified it because during the summer the kids like when I make them frozen drinks...etc. This thing is a beast. No having to shake the cup...etc to keep it working. It just devours anything. Also looking forward to some frozen margaritas! (for me not the kids! )

I can not see how they could make anything that worked better then this thing.

ID in your opinion does the ninja work much better than a different blender. I have a decent blender and it takes forever for me to grind the oats. I have looked at the ninja blenders and was not sure if they are worth the money.

Without question. NO DOUBT. As I said.....I dont think they could make something that worked better. It chops oats better then my dedicated food processor. And as a blender.....you can make anything as thick as you want and it never cavitates.

I already had what is considered a good quality cuisinart blender

The NINJA blows that away......not sure how to describe it other then, I used my friends once....and decided I had to have one.

I actually bought the 'food processing system'. It comes with 2 cups, a dough paddle....a whipper...etc
It was 165 but we found it on sale for $105. You can find the blender alone for around $70-80 on sale.

I may have to get one. That seems reasonable and the time I would save while grinding oats.. Have you tried steele oats in it I assume it grinds them just fine as well...

Next to my Keurig, the NINJA is the best kitchen appliance I bought myself in quite some time. Can't say enough good things about it.

great stuff I think i'll keep an eye out for when they go on sale and try it. On that cut at the moment so really no room for them although I could add some ground oats in place of the Oats and Whey I have been using.

I don't add oats to my shakes. The oats I eat are toasted rolled oats mixed in with some vanilla flavored granola and ground with my teeth.

I just use a good quality blender and it is pretty quick but it does cavitate so you need to use a spatula to keep everything moving. After a minute or two it has ground the oats to a fine powder. I might have to look into the Ninja it looks like it could devour most anything thrown at it.

Can't beat the Magic Bullet. If mine broke, I'd be heading to Costco to get a new one within minutes. Our entire family uses it. It has two attachments, one specifically for grinding and the other for the regular mixing.

One great aspect is you buy it with a number of the cups, you mix your drink in the cups, and that is what you drink from. From Costco you get the version with about 7 or more cups. It includes two smaller cups that I use just for grinding oatmeal.

Other blender sounds good too, but a Magic Bullet has become mandatory in our home.

We have the blendtec blender, pricey but it does everything including hot soup. My wife uses it for her chia seeds to turn it to fine powder I'm sure it will do oats well.

A little ice, Greek yogurt, scoop of whey, skim milk or water, frozen or fresh fruit, and for added sweetness splenda, and you got a protein shake that is unbelievable!

And clean up? Hot water dish soap. Pulse it a few times, rinse and done.
I'm open to any suggestions and have a difficult time accepting limitations without an honest effort on my part, you can count on that!

I have noticed that if you get the more expensive ninja it stated that it has 1100 watt motor where the other ninja without all the attachments it stated that it only has 1000 watt motor. Wonder if the 100 watts would make a huge difference.

Hey, I have this blender and let me tell you, it is NOT good for grinding objects into dust like oatmeal and almonds. I had a cheap Magic Bullet Blender for about 5 years and decided to upgrade to this. The one thing the Magic Bullet did well was grinding things into in about 10 seconds. Besides that, it sucked. I bought the Ninja thinking it could do everything x10 better. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't grind oatmeal well. Your shake will be junky.

(And sorry all, I know i'm not over 35 but I thought I needed to commentate on this product).
