    18 year old - needs to gain mass + muscle

    Hi, I'm 18 years old and I'm 5'11 tall and 140 pounds. I'm fairly new to working out and I really want to gain mass and muscle.

    What are some protein shakes that I should buy prior to workout and after workout?

    I want to gain at least 10 pounds of muscle at the end of summer!

    Sorry to ruin your goal but I highly doubt 10 lbs of muscle is possible in 2-3 months... more like 9-12 months

    i recommend doing a 3 day split, Chest/tris back/bis shoulders/legs
    buy any whey protein, protein is protein no matter who makes it, it dosent have to be the expensive stuff
    and gaining ten pounds of muscle will not happen in a 3 month span, more like 10 months especially for a skinny dude

    10 pounds of LEAN muscle gonna take you a long time. Your gunna have to eat alot but all clean foods. And lift hard.

    A sucky diet + no protein shakes = bad results.

    A sucky diet + pre-workout and post-workout shakes = bad results.

    Go clean. Eat A LOT of protein.

    Get on a decent programme. Try to hit every muscle twice a week.

    Work out CONSISTENTLY. This is the key to getting in shape.

    i guess I won't be purchasing any protein shake and rely more on food. so im guessing I should eat a variety of:

    1 - tuna
    2 - peanut butter ( also has healthy fats)
    3 - cottage cheese
    4 - milk
    5 - microwaveable meat
    6 - Salmon
    7 - turkey/chicken breast
    8 - Almonds, Peanuts, Cashews
    9 – Eggs

    but I don't know how much I should eat and when I should eat on a daily basis. Can anyone help me with this?

    Eat as often as you like, just make sure you get the calories in and are getting protein in after you lift. at 140lbs 2500kcals should be sufficient to put on mass without too much fat.
