Does weight training burn more fat than cardio?

Will jogging/running for 30 minutes on a treadmill burn more fat than working biceps, chest, abs etc 3-4 times a week. Since I know that building muscles will increase metabolism rate.
Also, I thought about doing cardio while weight training but I realized cardio burns muscles so can anyone shed some light on this please and thank you.

At your age, you're in your prime as far as muscle growth is concerned. Lift them weights while you've got the hormonal advantage. If you enjoy running or doing cardio, then don't neglect it, but a caloric deficit is a deficit (whether caused by lifting or cardio).

Don't neglect your legs. Do them there squats and deads.

Thanks for the replys, I mainly want to burn fat but I'm not sure if weight lifting burns more fat than running on a treadmill.

biceps-chest-abs brah i see. why is it that most kids at your age only worry about biceps, chest and abs... should be legs, then back, then chest and then everything else to a minor scale. cardio does not burn muscle, it wont even cause muscle loss... a poor diet may cause muscle loss. i think you should lift weights and target each muscle group not just your biceps-chest-abs and do your cardio if you please. in the long run, the more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn by sitting at your computer reading up on workout routines/advice. good luck and eat eat eat

    Nonsense.

You didn't get the answer you wanted, and it's cool. You've made up your mind already. Do your cardio, hope for results. Lifting weights is hard work.

Why not just do both - I do weight training 5X a week - cardio 6X a week (usually right after my weights, sometimes even 2 times a day), pump alot of protein, gotten awesome gains on muscle, and fat has been coming straight of

If you were that 8 year old whose dad had her doing squats, that'd be one thing. But you're not, you're 15 which is more than fine for starting to do squats and deadlifts. If anything, you'll reach your full height potential because your muscles are strengthened and therefore taking the effort of moving away from your bones.

Guys are trying to destroy his life making him do squats. Don't listen OP, your legs will stop growing, your hair starts turning curly, your hormones will cease to exist and your balls will gradually grow backwards into your body like a hermit....stick to the treadmill bro, you run off that fat.

Seriously, squat, its a great compound exercise and it will seriously give you good shape and size in the long run. You lack motivation or the ability to listen to advice from those who know what they are talking about, that has to change if you want to improve your body, stop burying your head in the sand.

You should, the first bit was a joke.

Its not going to have any negative effects on you. Start with a sensible weight and build strength and increase weight, you'll get good results.

    LOL WTF?
At 15 you should be eating like a champ and lifting heavy 3-5 times a week.
Your recovery should be great and you'll see fantastic gains.
Worry about putting on muscle and the fat will come off.

Lift weights, skip the cardio, do legs on 1 day including your calves, chest, shoulders, triceps on another day and back, biceps, traps on another day, you can do abs everyday if you want but you really won't see results for the abs until your bodyfat drops which will start to reveal them. Having more muscle will burn more calories and keep the fat off in the long run while doing cardio, you have to be pretty much consistent with it everyday since it burns calories away but doesn't build the muscle to keep the calories off.

Minute for minute cardio will burn more calories than weight lifting.

If you were to go out on my base at 5am you'd hear nothing but drill chants/cadence echoing off distant buildings - but my base is a training base for new recruits.

    I love the sound.

You wont hurt yourself at all if you keep things realistic. Lift weights (8-12 rep range) and light/medium weight and do your cardio and keep a good diet and you will see the fat melt off.

DEFINATELY cardio burns more calories than weight training. but from what i see from my personal experience now that i want to lose fat the 80% of my fat is on my stomach and legs and i have very very small amounts on biceps, back, chest and delts with 4 years of heavy weight lifting. this fat will be only burnt by cardio.
