add me... going on third day and its rough
What do I fear?
I fear stagnation and lack of progress.
I fear never reaching my potential and being average.
I fear being forgotten..The past..Yesterday's news.
I fear giving up and being passed by, going softly into that good night.
I fear settling, giving in to the "that's just the way it is" mindset.
I fear not feeling these fears anymore and just floating along.
These fears feed me, they nourish my drive.
I love my fear

I was doing 7 days by myself before I found the thread, on day 5 noticed many things, girls mirin at me, even had a cashier hitting on me super hard, I skateboard went to the park landed a lot more tricks learned new ones got more props and respect from people, clearer thoughts, higher confidence, women (and men) just saw me differently. I failed on day 5 cause I wathced the hodgetwins video about this on youtube and they were all like fap away, so I thought whats the point, overlooking all those benefits had a PMO and felt like crap after, stuff is so dirty. So right now I'm on day 2 with the time change coming (srs run-on sentences haha). Still doing the NoFap Nov. Who wants to make this a NoFap 2011 and get serious about this.

No Fap Crew (science/logic/proof) ("placebo" refuted)
I made a thread a few days ago about my experience on no fap for the last 5 months and how it completely turned my life around. Got a lot of posts in that thread from brahs asking questions and a few PMs asking me to make a thread with a lot of detail and I don't have another exam for a few days so here it is.
This thread will contain evidence as to why fapping is bad for you. That evidence will be a mix of real science and how it fuks up the chemicals in your brain, my own personal opinion (and story) and logic behind it, how bad this addiction can get if you don't stop and finally how to stop. This whole thread is about refuting the famous quote miscers like to spread "but itz a placebo effect brah!" but I'll include something that imo proves it isn't, if you still aren't convinced by then.
Also please if you don't agree with anything or are skeptical post why and I'll try to answer. If you make a sarcastic comment for no fukin reason and try to discourage other people for doing this, without any proof like I'll provide in this post, then prepare for a neg train. If you aren't even remotely interested in going on no fap and won't change your mind whatever anyone says to you then you shouldn't be in this thread. Please fuk off and troll elsewhere.
Am I addicted?
I believe that almost everyone reading this thread is addicted to fapping and porn but see below to confirm. Don't try to sugarcoat any aspect of this, if you can even slightly relate you're addicted and fapping is having a negative effect on your life.
YES to 3 or more = addiction
-Tolerance =has your use increased over time?
-Withdrawal =when you've stopped using, have you experienced physical or emotional withdrawal?
-Difficulty controlling your use =do you sometimes use more or for a longer period than you'd like?
-Negative consequences =continued use even thought it might results in negative consequences to your mood, self esteem, job, or family?
-Desire to cut down =think about reducing or cutting out your use? ever made any unsuccessful attempts to do so?
-Spending significant time or emotional energy- =obtaining, concealing, planning or recovering from your use? have you ever thought of schemes to avoid being caught?
Addiction test guidelines according to the American Psychiatrist Association
If you say yes to any 3 of the above, you're addicted.
But following is masturbation addiction from my own experience:
-Do you fap several times a week?
-Do you need to have any kind of visual stimulation(porn) to fap?
-Have you ever gotten bored of one particular kind of porn and searched for other "genres"?
-Do you have a strong urge to fap everyday?
-Does your dik only get hard to porn or highly seductive images?
If you answered yes to a single question above, then you're addicted. A normal person does not need porn or even any mental images of porn to fap. A normal person is able to fap just based on the sensation of stroking their dik. Did you ever get bored of one kind of porn? I remember for me lesbian porn used to be the best thing ever but after a while I got bored of it and looked for hardcore. After a while I then got bored of that and looked for other, more "surprising" (more on this later) genres. Do you get a strong urge to fap everyday regardless of your situation? are you unable to get random boners just by looking at women irl?
Below are some of the effects that me and thousands of others (on misc, reddit, all over the internet so it's enough proof) have experienced as fappers that have gone away as we've gone on no fap.
-depression
-social anxiety
-lack of concentration
-very low confidence/self esteem
-stupid insecurities that no one else sees
-no motivation. would rather stay at home and watch tv all day over anything else
-"weak" personality. this means you're not sure of who you are in life. people don't respect you, you don't project any leadership or charisma
There are a lot more but you get the idea.
If I told you that I suffered from these effects and they went away after I stopped fapping you wouldn't believe me. But there are literally THOUSANDS of people, former skeptics like me, who've experienced these effects and have seen no fap reverse all of them. WHY the FUK would EVERYONE try to trick you into doing this if it doesn't work?
Why is fapping bad for me?
I'll post this without any links or quotes because you can find everything I'm about to tell you with a 5 minute search. This is all FACT and SCIENCE. I might word some stuff differently to explain it better but none of this is broscience.
There's a chemical in your brain called dopamine. This chemical is crucial for several things but we'll focus on two of them; your motivation level and your happiness level. There are also dopamine receptors in your brain. These are the things that turn this chemical into motivation/happiness.
Now, this chemical is released as you do something that makes you feel satisfied. If you hang out with friends, a little Dopamine is released. If you score a goal on Fifa, a little dopamine is released. If you go watch a movie, a little dopamine is released. Get the idea?
This chemical is essential to life but if too much of it is released, your brain sends a signal to your body that you've achieved enough for the day and can relax now. This kills your motivation. Motivation to do stuff that would normally you would strive for, like achieving an A on a test or lifting heavy in the gym, are gone because your brain thinks you don't need to do this as you've done stuff that's benefited you. Only that you haven't, you've just fapped. The massive levels of dopamine released is enough to make you drop everything else in life because your brain doesn't think you need to do anything else. Two of the activities that are reported to release the most dopamine in the shortest amount of time is heroin and masturbation.
Your dopamine receptors can't cope with all this sudden influx of dopamine and start to die off as you fap more and more. This is why you need an increasing amount of new and shocking porn, to increase the stimulation and because the level of dopamine you achieved from normal porn aren't enough because as your receptors have decreased, you need more dopamine to make up for it.
As these receptors die off, you start to rely on more porn to give yourself a fix of dopamine (i.e "happiness) because normal everyday tasks aren't good enough anymore and so the cycle continues.
Watch this video. These are two people addicted to masturbating and think of what you read above as you watch it. You'll see that they need more and more dopamine to feel normal and if they don't have it, they start to display obvious signs of sadness. Fapping doesn't make them happy, it just brings them to the level of normal people. Watch at least the first part but if you watch all of them you'll see that they simply can't live life without fapping. I hope that none of you are at this level but you will be one day if you keep fapping (read the above again if you don't understand how)

Think about one respectable man that you know irl. This could be your dad, your grandad, a friend who everyone respects, your older brother, a family member, teacher, professor. Anyone that you look up to and that takes over a room as he enters it. Everyone listens to him and respects what he says. He's a leader of men, not a follower. He gets sht done instead of whining like a little bish.
Now, can you imagine this man, with his pants down to his ankles, sitting at a computer screen rustling his jimmies as he makes a stupid face? No. That's because he doesn't. Fapping is something that's only been promoted recently with all these kunts saying how it's healthy and how everyone is doing it. It's not fukin okay to fap and it leads to reduced masculinity. Can you imagine all the great men of the past, all the warriors, all the great business, all of the great sportsmen, stroking their dik to get 5 seconds of pleasure?
Fap all you want. Just realise that you will not achieve anything extraordinary if you do so. If you're okay with this then I admire you're ability to not give a sht. If you're like me and want to be remembered after you leave this planet, then read on.
How do I stop?
If you're still reading this it's evident you realise that fapping is bad for you and you want to stop. This is just like any other addiction and you should treat it as such. It won't be easy but you have to kill it with one shot instead of trying to torture it out of you. You have to spend less time on the internet (read a book, gym, go outside) but more importantly there are certain aspects of the internet that you have to completely take out to have any chance of stopping. After a week or so, you won't have many cravings but never trust yourself.
1) Block images from your browser. This is very important and will help you when you misc as well. If you have to do image related work, keep another browser just for that.
2) Set this up: https://store.opendns.com/familyshield/ it's free and very helpful
3) Make a new email, install this www.k9webprotection.com. Change the password of this program to a random one that you won't know, and change the password of that email to a random one you won't know
4) Install an add on to your browser that disables some video sharing websites. Disable Dailymotion, Metacafe, etc. Put a random password in that you need to disable the add on or access the sites
Some of these things perform the same function but that's because this makes it harder it for you to access them.
FAQs:
Ask away and I'll post them here with answers.

My story and placebo experiment
You can skip this if you want but I wanted to include it in just in case you're thinking why I'm trying so hard to tell you how bad it is. Second part of this section will be about an experience I did on a friend that imo further proves that this isn't placebo.
Five months ago I was your typical miscer. I'm an intelligent person (imo) but I never applied myself in anything. I bullsht my way through HS with the minimum amount of work required and went to a top uni. First year of uni I failed. This wasn't school anymore, you had to actually work to achieve anything and I had NO motivation at all to do so. It wasn't as if I was partying and socialising either. I was literally doing sht all, just sitting in my room watching movies, browsing the internet and fapping at least once, sometimes twice a day. I had a gym member but could never be bothered to go to, ate junk food because it was too much effort to cook real food, missed all my lectures even though they were a 30 seconds walk away. I couldn't even be bothered to speak to girls because none of them looked good enough to me unless they were 10/10, in which case they wouldn't even look at me. Porn raised my expectations to a ridiculous level. Who looks like Kayden Kross, Jynx Maze or Tori Black irl? Not many girls.
After I failed I got incredibly depressed. In my mind I hated the fact that I didn't try hard enough but my body just couldn't be bothered to put any effort in. I went to a doctor to see if there was anything wrong with my hormone levels but nothing, test was normal and estrogen was low. I just couldn't put a finger on why me, at one time the most active kid who had a strong desire to achieve something in life, was now just happy to sit back and watch life pass him by.
Around this point I legit considered taking my life. It was Christmas time 2011 and I was going to do it after the holidays, so that I wouldn't ruin Christmas for my family for the rest of their lives. In the meantime, I just gave up everything and started miscing a lot (this isn't my account btw. I have 20k posts on other account). One day I stumbled across the No Fap to end all No Fap threads. I read a bit of it and my jaw just dropped open at how ALL of the symptoms in that post matched me to a FUKIN Z. I was shocked because at this point I was fapping twice a day and never even considered that this could be the root of all my problems. I tried changing everything earlier except this and my situation didn't change, so this could be the only thing, right? But I didn't believe it. I was sure that I was fuked in the head and everyone experiencing those changes were just having a placebo effect. Part of the reason for that was because so many miscers were posting saying how it doesn't work.
Anyway, I reluctantly went on no fap to see if anything changes. First day of no fap, I failed. Second try, I managed about 3 days then failed because of a hnnnng thread on the misct. Third try, managed a week then failed. Fourth try, failed after 2 days.
At this point I re-read that thread and saw the addiction part and saying how bad it can be. I couldn't believe how hard it was to stop and I finally admitted to myself that I was addicted. I was still skeptical about those changes that people experienced but decided to fuk it and went to extreme measures to cut down all exposure to porn or anything that might trigger me to fap (more on this later). A week went by and I didn't feel any different. Two weeks went by and still nothing. At this point I was about to give up because people were commenting how they noticed a difference as soon as 3 days but some people on the misc persuaded me to continue for a bit longer.
During the third week is when I started to see something. Midway through the week I noticed that as I was effortlessly talking to people without giving it much though. I was having random chats with everyone about stuff that I wouldn't know what to say about before. In the supermarket, I was talking to the cashiers, people around me if the opportunity came, without any hesitation or uncomfort. During the fourth week I woke up one day feeling extremely confident. I felt like I was worth something, if you know what I mean. I thought about how good my life was (note that 4 weeks earlier I wanted to kill myself) and all of my good qualities, and around this point I thought about all the insecurities I used to have and how I was dramatizing them 10x while no one around me gave a sht. Two months in these effects kept on increasing but I then started getting random boners. Girls looked really nice, I loved having intellectual conversations about anything with anyone. Then one day I woke up feeling like a completely different person. All this confidence, everything, it felt like I was on the next level of it. I thought about how I wouldn't want to be anyone else in the world right now. My future was looking bright (i.e. instead of thinking I failed first year of uni, I thought about how this was an important lesson that I learned early) and I was just putting a positive spin on everything in life. My voice got deeper, people were respecting me more, I didn't take sht from anyone (response came naturally), I got funnier, had the ability to talk confidently.
5 months in and when I think back to how I was I want to slap myself for being that pathetic. That's how much my life changed. Near the end of the fourth month I had a chance to fuk a 8/10 sloot and came within 5 minutes of doing it but then I had an epiphany. I didn't want to fuk a random bish that dozens of men have jizzed in. I didn't give a sht about 5 seconds of pleasure a day from fapping. All that sexual energy I had in me was being put into my life in a positive way. I was more productive in school, more aggressive in the gym, sharper in life generally. This is when I decided that I wouldn't have sex again until marriage but if your goal is to fuk women, trust me they start to notice you a lot more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so I'm getting kind of tired of writing so I'm gonna try and finish this quickly.
About 3 weeks ago my brah had a fire at his house and had to come live with me while insurance took care of it. I've known this guy since we were 5 and we've been through a lot of sht together. Not tryna sound like a bish but he's one of the few people I trust and tell everything and he does too. I knew he was a regular fapper because we openly used to talk about pornstars and the best porn sites, etc.
When he came to live with me by chance my internet ran out and as I was about to renew it I had an idea. I knew he fapped and I wanted to prove to myself that what I was experiencing wasn't a placebo effect. So I didn't renew the internet and told him that they took the service out from our area so he couldn't fap. He had nowhere else to go during the day as we went gym together, hung out with other friends together, and then came home together so I knew he wasn't fapping.
This guy is very, very shy. He has literally no confidence even though he has a better physique than me and good facial aesthetics too. For the next 3 weeks I saw this guy transform from a little pussy who couldn't stand up for himself whenever anyone made a joke about him to a guy who knew he was the sht. He literally transformed in front of me. Before everytime you spoke to him it felt a bit awkward because he wouldn't know how to take the conversation forward. Everytime I called him to tell him to come out he'd say he was too busy, when all he was doing was sitting home home watching tv.
He started becoming so much more social. Idk if this is even possible but he went from being someone who acted like he had no knowledge of anything to holding intelligent conversations with everyone.
This proved to me that this isn't a placebo effect and this is partly the reason I spent so much time writing this thread.

Change the password of this program to a random one that you won't know, and change the password of that email to a random one you won't know. go to www.futureme.org and email your future self these passwords for 3 months later (average time for rewiring). this is because trust me, after those 3 months you wouldn't want to fap again.
4) Install an add on to your browser that disables some video sharing websites. Disable Dailymotion, Metacafe, etc. Put a random password in that you need to disable the add on or access the sites
Some of these things perform the same function but that's because this makes it harder it for you to access them.
Gl brahs. Post itt or pm me if you need any help or have a question and I'll be happy to reply asap.Last edited by Excalybur; 05-17-2012 at 07:08 PM.

I use the k9webprotection and really like it. The only problem with making a random password though is that you won't be able to uninstall it. Also sometimes it won't connect properly and when that happens you can't use the internet at all until you put in the password to override it. But that is very rarely it ever does that.
