So this gangly dude with a porn name from North Carolina asked me if I'd like to try Protovol. Thinking it was a designer steroid, I immediately said yes. After having said yes, I actually used the internet to look it up and to my surprise found that it was a recovery/performance supplement. Interest still piqued, so Mr. Forehand sent me 15 days' worth to test out and review for them.

First week: Took capsules as suggested, 2/2/2. I can't comment on pumps because I don't train that way, really, and nothing really to comment on during the week.

Second week: Took 4 capsules prior to training and 2 before my late evening snack. I'll say this, and this is the true test for me... I squat heavy on Friday nights and usually, by Sunday, I hate sitting on the toilet or getting off the couch. But to my surprise, it wasn't such a big deal, which leads me to believe that this HICA stuff is on the right track. Can't fully tell until a full 4 weeks is put in.

I like that it's encapsulated... and I like that I don't have to bloat up on 10-15 capsules before training. I preferred the 4/2 dosing scheme as it was a bit more convenient for me, and dosing peri-WO, I believe, would really serve to help promote recovery.

My only qualm is the price, but I'm sure it can be had for cheaper than here and it seems like HICA is an expensive ingredient to source getting into the $300+/kg range.

Nevertheless, if I catch it on sale, I might pick one up.
