But Marine for life has a feeling you just don't hear about from other service member's once their real time is up. I look for Marines daily. I spot window stickers a mile a way on the freeway and wave at everyone as I pass by.
Anyone who doesn't think there's a difference hasn't been around you guys. A Navy Ball is a room full of Sailors enjoying a good time. A Marine Corps Ball is a room charged with an incredible level of energy and pride. Even for most of the "new guys" who seem to hate life in the Marine Corps, many will change their attitude along the way.
I found out way too late in my career what it's like to be around Marines - and I can't imagine that anyone who earned his Eagle, Globe, and Anchor would actually prefer to have entered another service instead.

I am NOT a Marine. Just a Sailor who had the awesome opportunity to work with Marines for several years.
Yeah, it would seem like trading down ( no disrespect here either ). No branch is for everyone. But Marine for life has a feeling you just don't hear about from other service member's once their real time is up. I look for Marines daily. I spot window stickers a mile a way on the freeway and wave at everyone as I pass by. I spot hats, shirts, etc too. I always say Semper Fi when I'm walking by someone with the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on. Even stop to talk at times about our time in, what it was like and how we feel now. Everyone of us say we miss it and think of all the good times and brother bonding times. I still talk to some that were in my unit. One comes by the house from time to time when he's passing by.
This is true.

When I read about Marines, when I see Marines the hair on my neck stands up most of the time. A rush of memories comes to my mind like a flash. It's a wonderful feeling and that's what makes us miss it so much. Even all the ****y ass times when you are in saying GOD I HATE THIS ****!!!, lol. Once your out, you understand why you did it in the first place. There's no bond on earth like serving with other member's and knowing your life is safe as they would give theirs for yours without even thinking.

I agree. I enjoy being around the community, being with the local MCL and VFW, marching in the parades, speaking to people or groups, the feel of it you can't beat, the adventures, the fun, the everything, it's the best club of it's kind.
Just walking around with a USMC shirt you get looks, thank yous or someone shakes your hand, free drinks, upgrades and smiles...the stories are endless........yeah it's awesome

if you go intel your school is in virginia beach VA in which i'm pretty sure you live in a hotel during your duration there which is payed for by the Marine Corps. I had considered doing counter intel and talked to the 02xx Monitor and thats what he told me. The monitor is the guy in control of all the duty stations for a specific field.

You'll be a junior Marine in your first MOS school - it will be miserable hell wherever you are
PS: When the hell are you going to enlist?!

do any of u Marines wish u joined a different branch? just asking because ive got a couple buddies who are in the Corps and it wasnt what they though it would be, 1 of them actually hates it.
The only regret I have is that I was a reservist, and was never active duty.
By the way guys. . . I actually made it in and out of 8th & I today without getting saluted - that may be a first!

ironic i just got off the phone w/ the recruiter. recruiter called the 1SGT in charge of the ARMY recruiting down here (he knows him bc he was a former marine, long story) and he was on leave or something bc his wife had a baby and there were pre-mature complications? not sure.
my paperwork releasing me went as follows......
1) left my MP unit. 2) sent to 2125th HQ 3) 200th MP command
and now, it's at 4), it's final destination to get me discharged...... the desk of a 2 star General
has been at the final spot since early last week, was told to call Fort Knox back on Monday of next week (congressional head of recruiting) so he can check up on it. OR, my usmc recruiter keeps on submitting my ASVAB sheet to see if it goes through or not (goes through, im out of DEP. or if i get word from Fort Knox, im out of DEP. whichever comes first!)
Hell, I wouldn't mind driving to the 2 star general and asking "please, can u sign this so i can GET ON WITH MY LIFE?" but i doubt that's allowed.
speaking of that....... WOULD I be able to speak to a 2 star general in person, asking for an, ehh... "speedy" signing???

Looking at I didn't really like my MOS, I hated getting talked down to constantly, late night clean up crews, and maybe a few hundred other lame things in my 4 years, I would have still chose the Marine Corps. There is just a sense of pride you get knowing you're a Marine. It makes you want to do the Toyota Jump ^_^

Well absolutely! Because a man who's responsible for tens of thousands of Soldiers will drop everything just to take care of some guy who couldn't make up his mind.
Did that come off a bit sarcastic?

Marines Kill Competition at Call of Duty Launch
On the eve of Veterans Day, a unique celebration was taking place. GameStop and Activision hosted an event in San Francisco for the release of Call of Duty: World at War. In collaboration with the USO, customers at the Powell Street GameStop store were able to play in a real-time tournament-style competition with Marines stationed at 29 Palms, Ca via Xbox live.
Several hundred gamers packed GameStop for the opportunity to take part in the tournament and to purchase the game in advance of the national release. After 16 6-on-6 matches, the Marines at 29 Palms won a tie breaking game to secure bragging rights. Tournament participants were awarded GameStop gift cards and the Marines received six Xbox 360 units from GameStop.
David Vonderhaar, Multiplayer Game Design Director for Call of Duty: World at War, said that it was really important to involve the Military in the event due to the nature of the game and also as a small way to say, "Thank You." Vonderhaar went on to detail the importance of accuracy in the game and said that they had a military advisor on staff during the entire production process (and that he regularly looked at Military.com for reference.) While he was quick to point out that they didn?t want to sacrifice entertaining gameplay for absolute military and historical accuracy (it is a video game, after all) he said he also felt an obligation to be true to the subject matter and the military audience. This was an event that truly did justice to the game's Veterans Day release.

Dam Neck is good (I was down there for a month-long school). But MOS school for a junior Marine is a different story

My buddies becoming a Green Beret and another guy I know is a SEAL.
You guys are all badasses.
I just got approached my a marine recruiter.. I gave him my number but then I went up to him again and said thanks but no thanks, I respect the hell outta the guys who do it.. But It's just not for me.
I wonder how i'd do considering I'm in awesome shape and some of the marines are skinny little guys(no offense)
