so heres what i've learned from this thread
1)IIFYM is fukin RETARDED. especially since "80% of your diet should come from "Whole Fooods," anyway"
2)We are all fuked up in the head, and will forever count/ estimate calories in fear that we will get fat and or lose muscle mass. when we dont fit our "macros" we wake up in the morning feeling like we lost muscle mass and are scared ****less. meanwhile, there are plenty of other people that get big and strong without worrying about anything other than eating healthy. they laugh at us for being phucked up in the head...

IIFYM is good, but without moderation, your gonna find it almost impossible to hit you marcro's without a huge calorie surplus, and probably won't be getting you necessary fibre, vitamins and minerals.
Carbs are carbs, complex carbs are just longer chains of the same basic sugars, therefore taking longer to break digest mean and longer amount of sustained energy.
Protein should be consumed over the day, your body doesn't have the necessary enzymes to break down it in huge amounts, and consuming large amounts of protein in a short period will put strain on your kidneys.
Nutrition in body building has a general skeleton for the pure reason that it works. But with that being said, IIFYM is great in moderation but make sure you're still getting the bulk of you macro's and calories from marco dense food; meats, dairy, nuts, sweet potato, rice ect.

IIFYM:
1. eat food that fits your macros
2. eat foods that you enjoy
3. make sure you include healthy foods in your diet so you stay healthy
it's that simple

ok quick clarification. im new to the whole IIFYM system and i'm currently cutting.
My current macros look like:
184g Protein
150g Carbs
70g fat
if a 20 piece chicken nugget from McD's has a nutrient profile of:
49g Protein
61g Carbs
65g Fat
I can eat it once in while, not everyday, as long as IIFYM and I fulfill my remaining macros for the day?
And that I won't see any setbacks on my cut? It's a lifestyle.

Macros
This may be a stupid question (although probably no more stupid than a lot of the posts on here) but how do i find out how much of each macro a food has in it. For example a chicken breast, just because it weighs 100g im assuming thats not all protein (obviously) so is there a website or shock horror a book that lists common foods and their macro contents?
Thanks
