What Is IIFYM?
IIFYM allows you to eat the foods you love, while burning fat and killing cravings or vice versa to gain weight while on a bulk.
-you simply select foods that allow you to hit your protein, fat and carb requirements.
-IIFYM Is build on energy balance
-The IIFYM approach DOES NOT TAKE into account food quality, vitamin and mineral intake, fibre or any other aspect of food.
What Are MACROS?
Simple, Carbs&Fats&Protein&how much you're having for the day based on you're fitness goals.
Example:
Me: Spiderman what are you macros?
Spiderman: 100 Grams of Fat | 200Grams of Carbs | 300 Grams of Protein.
How to find your macros?
- http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm (Calories to gain weight/cut weight)
- http://www.freedieting.com/tools/nut...calculator.htm (Macros)
^ USE BOTH In Order for your fitness goals.
The Magic behind IIFYM
-Eating clean, healthy food can certinaly help you lose wieght and burn fat, but there is no magical connection between 'health food' and weight loss.
The magic is in the calories. Something we all know and have heard but never really put to use.
-IIFYM doesn't care what food you eat to hit your macros.
-Body composition is not affected what so ever, MANY ARE LIVING PROOF OF IT.
-Do you think your body knows what a chicken breast is compared to Ground beef? All its knows is its macros.
-Macros & Micro Nutrients are completely different. Body composition is NOT affected by Micronutrients.
Lets be completely honesty here people.
-When your cutting weight whats better 110 Calories worth of 22g of protein or 600 Calories worth of 20g of protein? CHICKEN WINS HERE.
IIFYM is the truth. The Fitness industry is full of misconceptions, Too many.
If You want to have a slice of pizza FIT IT INTO YOUR MACROS.
IIFYM was created to balance foods you crave fit it into you're diet & STILL END WITH THE SAME RESULTS(Body composition)
Eat whatever you want to hit you're daily Macros.
-INB4IEATLIKE SH!T(NO, My diet consist of Oats,Eggs,Chicken breast, fish, ground beef, bread, pasta, brown rice, protein shakes, milk, peanut butter) If I have 30 carbs left & I want to have a cookie I will eat it plain & simple&as long as I hit my daily protein intake

NOTE: People we use IIFYM is a tool not to torture ourselfs. Many of you guys act like we eat nothing but oil for fat, Fried chicken for protein, & poptarts for carbs. NO. I wouldn't hit my daily macros like this, Each have to many calories for the wrong nutrient.

> section: teen bodybuilding
> tell people they can eat ANYTHING they want if they hit their macros
> expect them to follow moderation
Look at kavernasky or w/e his name his. Eats ice cream and candy on the daily. Looks like garbage.
If you promote a clean diet and take care to fill in any "holes" that are a result of eating the same foods over and over, then there is no way to go wrong. Spread your meals throughout the day and you wont have the trouble trying to eat all your calories in just 2-3 meals because the portions are split in half.

As for me I follow IIFYM 90% "Clean" 10% "Dirty"
- I think drinking any kind of drink is a waste of calories especially when cutting.
-I eat 5-6 meals a day Keep me feeling full
-Moderation is key, Body composition won't be affected from 40 carbs of pasta vs oatmeal. Same deal with 40carbs of Oatmeal vs 40 Carbs of protein pancakes.
Get my role a little bit?15 Weeks out 12/26/13

OP, IIFYM is basically Discretionary Calorie Allowance renamed. You don't take it literally- it was made so people could fit in highly processed foods they enjoy in moderation. Your macronutrient, micronutrients and fiber all need to be hit, but you can still work in foods that are not that nutritious..

Im sorry, (not trying to start an argument) but i just don't understand this. Many people say that the sugar from a pepsi DOES spike insulin levels rapidly, which they claim to be bad for your pancreas and whatnot. I know some people have said that the GI doesn't matter when you eat/drink simple carbs because of other food you eat, but i have a hard time believing its the same with sugar.
Again, not trying to say you're wrong, i just want to understand this better. So, do you have any sources for what you are saying here?

I don't see why you posted the pic of the guy who's heavily enhanced on different drugs while I posted mostly natural athletes who follow IIFYM and don't agree with your theory that people who follow IIFYM look like shiet. Guess what, they guy you just posted follows IIFYM too, as he gets enough protein, fats and calories from food. Derp.
You still haven't responded to my question. Ignoring it for what, 5th time?

Everything you eat spikes insulin, in some cases protein does it more than carbs, after meals you store fat and inbetween you burn it, if energy in=energy out you won't lose or store any over a long period of time.

Strong logic. "he does IIFYM too! lolololol!"
When you get him on camera saying that eating garbage on the daily is fine for a bodybuilder because it fits in your discretionary allowance, then I'll dig it.
Until then, have fun posting your pics of guys who have been training like 10 years and weigh 175lbs on stage.

The more refined the carbohydrate, the faster the glucose is released into your blood. This can cause peaks and drops in your blood sugar level and less stable energy levels in the body.

You always talk about how people following IIFYM look ****. I just posted a few pics of people that look better than you. Strike one.
You posted a professional bodybuilder who is heavily enhanced. If that's how you want to go, let's see:
Strike two.
I also believe the guy you posted was Evan Centopani? If that's right, he himself said that he consumes a cheat meal once or twice per week. That's moderation, and that is IIFYM. Proof: http://forums.musculardevelopment.co...-amp-A/page715
Strike three.

See myth 3 if that helps: http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top...-debunked.html
You also gotta understand digestion of foods you ate many hours before is still going on.
