i approve of the hook grip trend in this log lately.
she must, she's married to one. L, how bad did your wife kick my ass yesterday on maxouts?
"fixed it for you"
Back to back deadlift days tires out my grip, especially when I start with double overhand on RDLs. Hook grip saved my grip strength today so I could switch to mixed for the heavy reverse band work.

Judge gave me this basic setup. Him and alot of other UGA/Quest guys are big on RDLs to bring up deadlifts. I've never tried pause or double pause deadlifts but it does look interesting from watching Ben Rice do them.
If you aren't going to pull hook in competition, why not just use straps? Or is there another secret I'm missing out on...
Always forget to bring the straps I own since I never use them. Plus I think having done mix grip on deadlifts for the past 3 years has created some muscular imbalances on me. I can clearly see my left lat is smaller as well as left rear delt and trap. So if I can handle hook grip, I might switch to it full time and then do some assistance work to build back up my smaller left side after the meet.
so she could have bro knee bended over 200? lolz you should thank them for correcting her form now. since she's obviously gonna compete right?
Na shes actually not, she just does it cause she enjoys it. Her form is pretty good depth was literally being discussed it was that close, plus shes short (5'2'') so it happens fast lolz

Tried out something new on the band set up. Went with the average bands and then tried to loop it around the kettlebell handle twice. It made the band a bit shorter and was just the right amount of tension to not lift the kettlebell. So a slightly better setup but still pretty crappy. Then I stayed the same weight as last week on bench and tried to pause as much as I could without making it heavy work. Good day overall and should have my Texas Power Bar just in time on Friday for heavy squats.

Another weird day. I'm scared to go 10 RPE on reps but I seem to have no problem going 10 RPE on a single. Thus I racked it after 2 reps on 385 though on video it looks like a 3rd one could have been there. Still was able to work up to 435 afterwards lol. This is like the 2nd heavy squat session where my descent has felt very weird and off. It feels like I'm wobbling a ton on the way down and have no control, can't tell when I'm hitting depth either. On the way up I actually feel fine and you can see I'm really trying to not tip over and have my hips and shoulders rise at the same time. Either way, there is some good to take away from tonight. I believe my 3 heaviest squats in 2013 have been 435 on January 1st when I was testing my max, 430 on March 11th when I was testing my max, and 435 tonight when I did heavy singles after my work set. So my assumption is I can hit 440+ when I'm fully peaked and rested next month at the competition.
