Holy fudge, maybe I should clean up tree branches and replace a water heater before every squat session. I didn't even execute the bottom half of my squat descent correctly, lost tension and bottomed out but some how still got it up quick.1372 @ 205

How exactly are you programming the heavy singles? I know you're doing them before the work set, but just wondering if you have a certain % for each week or whatever.

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

Beard power.
Lol, yea. First they were laughing at me for wearing my singlet. Then they were all mirin' me and I think it was the little kids' first time in the gym and asking me how much weight I'm squatting. I had my music on so loud that I didn't hear anything though.
Just by feel. When I first started, I worked up to something that was inbetween a 1st and 2nd attempt, like for squat was 435. Original plan was to just keep going up 5 lbs every week but last week squats felt like crap and 2 weeks ago bench felt like crap. So I try to stay smart and take what is there so I don't miss a rep or do a full out grind. After tonight, it's looking like 420 is a good opener and 450 is a good 2nd attempt and will put me in position to break my 463 competition PR.
Say it to my face in 3 weeks muthatrucka.1372 @ 205

Bodyweight and leverages. I see tons and tons of tall, lanky lifters who can deadlift quite a bit for their bodyweight. This in turn makes them suck, in comparison, at squatting. This is how you get a guy like Maxx Chewning who can deadlift 561 @ 163 lbs but only recently was able to squat 405. If you gained 20 lbs to get to a similar bodyweight as me and did high frequency squatting along the way, I'm positive your squat strength would shoot up.

Initially thought 280 was the most I've paused in the gym but looks like I made a mistake. 285 is the most I've paused which makes sense since we tried 286 in competition at Nationals. Either way, 280 felt good and still 5 lbs more than my competition PR. Only did tng for that 1 max reps set and tied my best 4RM then went back to practicing pause singles with my opener. Got the key to the gym so I can go back tomorrow morning and get my deadlift training in plus a bunch of back work that I didn't do tonight.1372 @ 205
