The last 2 weeks i've notice pain in my elbow joint that really only seems to appear when I first wake up in the morning and when I try to carry something or pull something. Does not hurt at all doing any sort of presses... but doing pull-ups has been a real pain. Any ideas as to what it could be? does not hurt to the tough or anything like that either. I mean I went to pick up my 80 lb son and thought I was going to tear up it hurt so much... but then a day later had no trouble inclining 265... was weird.
Sounds like good ole golfers elbow. Here is a cut paste from another thread that you might find useful. I would give KT tape a try, and see how that works for you. In the meantime, lay off the pull ups or at least limit their volume.

1. K.T. Tape. The cheapest thing you could do is try K.T. Tape. You can purchase a role at Wal-Mart Or Sports Authority for $10-20. There are dozens of uses and videos can be found on youtube on how to apply. I have personally had great success with knee tendinitis using this. http://www.kttape.com/
Rest is longer considered adequate treatment for chronic inflammation. While useful, it will only serve to NOT irritate, and will do little in the way of healing. Infact, there is a new standard over R.I.C.E. and is known as M.E.A.T.;
First you have your M.E.A.T. (to treat the Chronic inflammation and provoke an inflammation response), and then you have your R.I.C.E., to treat the acute inflammation.
Yeah I had a similar pain in the elbow which was diagnosed as medial epicondilitis (golfer's elbow).
If your pain persists, you should ger a confirmed diagnosis - only then can you accurately treat it.
What worked for me? A combination of:
-stop all exercises that caused pain - in your case the pull-ups
-A.R.T. as recommended ^^^^
-Ice

I had the same thing a few months ago (elbow joint pain) hurt every time I pulled something heavy. I cut out the weighted pull ups for awhile and the pain went away.
is it on the inside or outside of the elbow? if the outside, they call it tennis elbow. if the inside, they call it golfers elbow. either way its an overuse injury. you need to cut back on the heavy lifting. focus on lower body for a bit. you should ice your elbow, do gentle stretching and rest it. You should also consider a compression band to wear around your forearm. this will take the stress off of the tendon. Here is the band that I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B000FML7SW
hope that helps

Like most have said..........either golfers elbow (inside)......or tennis elbow (outside).
As far as how to treat it I would go to doc (especially to make sure thats even what the problem is) and make sure. If it is most likely he/she will offer a corto shot (don't take it) and then rehab (take the rehab).
Only thing I can say for sure......................IF................you don't listen to the pain now and keep pushing as you stated you did on other movements etc......you could and most likely will cause it to become a chronic issue that does not go away.
Saw these the other day, looks interesting. The first is the Pendlay vid, short to the point the second is the Starrett video, lots of big words and explanations Same technique, Glenn learned it from Starrett and shows you how to make your own bands cheaply. Haven't really had any major elbow pain in awhile, but will try this if i do.
