Rush is my last unbroken (long term streak) I have seen every show in Houston since Moving Pictures came out in the early 80's.
I had the same streak with Sammy/Van Halen (all singers/members/side projects) but gave away tickets a few years ago due to a trip to St. Louis that could not be missed.
I have seen Kid Rock every trip to Houston, but he will have to bring it for a loooooooong time to catch up with Rush.

You make me laugh Jesus!! Back in the late 80's, early 90's one of my friends who is black was more of a metal head then I could ever be. Yet, when in a more mixed crowd we were sworn to secret on this obsession of his! LOL Yeah, I know, he's nothing like you, yet the memories come back.
Van Hales is good, but c'mon man, whats up with that?I'm a sad little man

Yeah, my wife doesn't like taking me to to movies any more.
I'm really pretty easy going, but folks need to shut their mouths, sit down, quit kicking my chair and playing with their cell phones. Drives me insane.
Anyways...
quicksand jesus...man, I loved Van Halen growing up....don't know if I could have seen them that much over the years.
I would like to see them back together with Roth and Michael Anthony so I can see the original line up at least once."Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"

I'll give you all a laugh, or at least something to roll your eyes at and/or throw up...
Since I came "out" on the forum in BH's godawful thread about gay marriage, I'll go ahead and admit it: Cher. Three times: The Believe tour, the never-ending Farewell tour, then in Vegas at Ceasar's.
Sure it's a stereotype, yeah whatever.

Pantera: 14-15
White Zombie: 9
Grateful Dead: 6
Planet of the Drums(Dieselboy, Dara, Ak1200): 7-8
I don't really go to traditional concerts anymore because I primarily only listen to electronic music now, but I really want to see Korn. For some reason, I always have something going on when they are around.

I always liked Hall and Oates. You know, in my 53 years, well almost now, I have never once been to a Rock or Country Music concert. I had tickets to see Mana (A really good Mexican rock band) years ago in Matamoros. The parking lot was so full of crazy people, the auditorium had no seats, I just scalped the tickets outside the venue and took my girl friend to dinner instead! I ought to see just what the experience would be like, once before I die. LOL

local bands: rusted shut, fleshmop, sugar shack about eleventy billion times
national acts (which were also texas bands) pain teens, butthole surfers (lots and lots)
national acts not associated with texas - mudhoney, sonic youth, nirvana, hole, scrawl, white stripes, capelton. i saw each of them each time they came to town until they got so big i couldn't afford their shows.
i am jealous of the guy who said he saw the who with keith moon. i was obsessed with him when i was a kid. full moon was one of my favorite books growing up. so funny! and of course i loved their albums.

tenth avenue north...they're a christian/contemp band, and really aren't what many think about that genre. really great bunch of guys, and a lot of talent there. never liked that genre much myself, til i heard their sound/lyrics. last year, was my last time seeing them.
i haven't been to concerts in some time, before them.

Yes, I did like the "harder" stuff.... back then. As I aged, I mellowed. On the other hand, those bands largely disappeared, too, eh? I was serious about my respect for the Dead and their following, but I just never "got" them, so to speak. It's all good....
Saw both in their early days/prime (78' & 76' & 79, respectively), and I know what you mean about today's crowds; My last Floyd show in 93' was filled with "kids" that were annoying (I know, I was them back then, I guess). A 2003 Clapton show was a better example; people in their teens and 20's were standing on their fcking chairs. I couldn't see $hit during a lot of the show. It was obvious that other folks in my age range felt the same. I Mean, I don't begrudge any young fan his "day", but I guess there wasn't a lot of that back when I lived it as it unfolded. But I digress........
Good taste!
Glad you "came out" and feel better about it. There's never a need to apologize for liking anyone's music. Never.
Don't mistake (or expect) political discussions here to spill over into other threads. It damn well shouldn't. Music is universal, yet unique to each of us.
I actually like a lot of their catchy tunes. Never bought anything from them, but I admit that I actually like several tunes. Great writers and performers, complete with great "hooks" in their tunes......
