Interview with a life insurance company tomorrow. need help.
she said to dress business attire..
what should I wear? I know..business attire, but what color pants/button up shirt?
any of you work for a life insurance agency ? what do YOU do ?
What should I expect in the interview ?
i applied to this company over 2 months ago and they just called. If its a gig where I gotta go out and sell life insurance it won't be for me. She didn't say exactly what I'll be doing if I get hired. Said we would talk about it tomorrow.

I'll give you a bump brah, I've also got an interview tomorrow and was wondering what some of the new questions may be? Like, aside from "What will you bring to this company", "Why do you want to work for us", "What is your biggest weakness", etc...

Also be prepared for questions like "where do you see yourself in 5-10 years". Another one I like to ask people is "if you were a tree, what tree would you be". I mainly just ask that to see how quickly they can think on their feet and it's so retarded it throws them off.

I had an interview monday with a medical/dental insurance company for billing and claims.
Once thing you should ask, which i forgot to, was 2 things.
Givens are advancement opportunities, salary ranges, asking about the average time it takes for a new employee to really get a grasp on the business so they can make an impact for the company.
Where did you start out and how did you get to where you are today?
What is the next step in this process.

Hi phaggot, why don't you tell me a little about yourself?

With the "5-10 years" question, are you supposed to answer like you got the job? Like "I see myself working for xxxx company in xxxx role", or give a more generic answer?

yes, selling life insurance is a gad, its going to end up being you going out and peddling some bull**** to people to get their money to make a bunch of lazy middle management some money.
Right now they are highly taking advantage of the poor economy and the recent college grads looking for work and anyone else struggling.
It is going to go something like this:
Interviewer is going to be professional, wealthy, and tell you you can make like 5 grand a month, all you have to do is work hard.
Interviewer going to say others are all making like 60k and the ones who dont try or quit only make like 40k
Then you are going to ask how much you get paid because that is all rubbish and not a strait answer
Then they are going to say as much as you want, its commission based and you get paid per sale
then you are going to ask how much do i get paid besides that
they are going to say nothing, but they will pay you during training and send you on a week vacation to XXXX,XXXX
If you accept the job, plan on making about $300 a month off of their commissions, spending hours and tons of gas a day trying to peddle bull**** to people who don't want it but will listen to you anyway to be nice.
Even if you sell 3 things they make a profit off of you so this little scheme works great for them, no matter how much of your time they wasted or how much they got your hopes up, you still sold 3 insurance plans for them.

Always say something along the lines like you see yourself progressing with the company, finding new and dynamic ways to do business. Anything that makes it seem like you have enthusiasm for something other than the paycheck. They know the chances of you being there in 10 years is probably slim, good employers (i.e., the ones you want to work for) are always looking for a situation that is mutually beneficial.

pretty sure only sales positions making 90k+ is pharmaceutical which requires a proven history of sales success with recommendations or a masters in business from a very good school or a medical background + sales experience.

don't worry, it will be soon
It is a business model it seems every business is taking and it is EXTREMELY effective and profitable for management and the business but VERY corrupt and disadvantageous for the employees

"I try not to look ahead to much. i am more focused about the present and my current goals which is to find a job to start my career. I know with my hard work and dedication, the company will notice and my career will progress accordingly. As long as the company is always pushing me and is always challenging me, I will be happy to work for them. If i'm lucky it will be with this company" blah blah through your on bs into the mix. worded it kinda weird but when i talk it goes a bit smoother. I have a few more answers to that questions I memorized where i try to judge which one would be best with the person/company.
Here is how the interview will probably go. From the sounds of it, its just a meet and greet.
-introduce yourself
-they ask "what do you know about the company"
-say some general info
-they will break out into a 5-10 mins background of the company
-they ask you simple 3-10 interview questions
-they ask if you have any questions
-prepare 5-10 questions for them to answer in which they havent covered (in your case ask them "what would my day-to-day operations be? door to door salesman?")
-interview will be about 45min-1hour long about 3/4s of the time they will be talking not you.
wear a suit. bring a padfolio. belt and shoes match.
been on countless interviews (30+). they are almost the same. some extremes but almost all of them the same crap. never nervous anymore but doesnt mean ****. still jobless. =/
best of luck and if you need more help...pm me if you want
edit ...sounds like a scam. stay safe and rich brah. use the info accordingly.

OP, wear a suit. for jobs in the corporate world a suit is pretty much 100% expected.
Also its almost a guarantee that the job will be for selling insurance.
Negs to anyone that:
makes a terrible troll thread
makes any conspiracy theory thread
makes a religious/political thread without knowledge of what they're talking about

I bought a padfolio the other day, during the interview should I have it open, write anything, or when they ask if I have any questions, open it up and refer back to it?

Dress suit and tie. No exceptions.
Avoid a black suit if you can as it makes you look like a rookie.
Take notes when they are describing certain aspects of the job or any kind of registrations/courses you'll need. That's something you should be writing down.
