Does narrow stance squatting have good carryover/value to a wide stance squatter?
Lately I've been switching to a wide stance squat more in line with how I'll be squatting in gear in a few year's time, but I seem to miss a more narrow stance with my oly shoes. Is there value in training both, versus sticking with wide? Any detrimental effects, other than using two different forms?

simmons says that narrow stance squatting will not benefit wide squatting.
but squatting wide will benefit narrow stance squatting.
I have 0 other evidence to back that up, but the guy knows his sh**.

I narrow stance squat because that's how I pull. Whenever I switch to wide stance I feel awkward. Like I suddenly shaved my head and grew a goatee.

Why not just squat narrow with gear?
Everyone says wide stance squat > narrow and conventional DL > sumo. Yet Olech squats narrow and DLs sumo, its all about what works best for you.

I'm making a guess here.
Okay wide hits more hips than narrow. So if you do narrow u hips r not getting as strong as they would if you were squating wide. Like if you can squat wide stance for 500lb I can't imagine u not being able to squat narrow with 400 so there is a carry over

Raw Squat
The range of motion in a narrow squat is longer than in a wide stance squat. It is likely that a narrow stance has more carryover, but, frankly, it is irrelevant because most people are going to squat more, raw or otherwise, with a somewhat wider stance. The reasons are similar as to why most people can bench more with a wider grip (with some training to acclimate, of course).

Hey...help me a little. I m 6 2 (almost your height) and 58% of that 6 2 is legs for me. I also have wide hips and carry a lot of fat on my butt....which makes me squat with feet kept wide.
Whats your thing like? Do you have long legs but good flexibility...and thus you can squat with a narrow stance?

Long legs, long arms, avg. torso. I just stretch everyday. I can bend forward and touch my head to my knees.

Eating Everthing In Sight
I've never noticed any correlation to this but then again I dont squat in gear. squatting wide has help a little just cause it's alot easier on my hips spuating somewhat wide then having my feet out to the edges on the rack

I squat low bar and wide on my main squatting and high bar and narrow on my assistance because i cant get to leg press machine, my squats definetly feel easier but that could just be down to changing routine but i definetly feel it in leg a lot more narrow and high bar.
