How much cardio a week should should I be doing to loose weight. I know diet is also a bit part, but what is a good starting point?

Diet isn't just a big part... It's the BIGGEST part to losing fat. Technically you don't have to do any cardio to lose weight. It's all about burning more calories than you eat, so without knowing how many calories you eat, or what your maintenance calories are, we really can't give you an answer

I'll tell you EXACTLY how much .. zero.
I've gone from 190 lbs to 162 lbs without doing much. I go for 2-3 1.25hr walks per week. I eat 1500 cal/day (my maintenance is just over 2000 b/c I sit on my butt 60hrs/week in front of the PC).
Would I lose weight w/o the walking, YES.
Figure out your maintenance and eat 500 below that as others have suggested.
