Thats really unfortunate. Happened to my mate last year except your case was worse. He wasn't finished at time was up, he begged for more time and began to sob. They took it away from him and he just sat there crying

its ok bro same **** happened to me except I spent all night studying for a fuking bio test while pledging, set my alarm to go off at 7 am so I could get ~1.5 hrs of sleep for my 8 am class and slept through the alarm. teacher had no sympathy and I would have ACED the fuking test. Ended up failing the class b/c it was past the withdrawal deadline. I swear to god I wanted to kill someone I punched a hole through my wall when I got home...
