When you are in police/DEA/FBI etc. custody, they are responsible for you.

No doubt. Our law enforcement gangs are way out of hand in this country. These bozos are becoming a special class of citizen. The right answer here is the cops responsible get life in the worst prison the state offers. There's nothing worse than this in an allegedly free society. It happens far too often.

Very true, years ago I was busted for destruction of property. In a holding cell with 2-3 other dudes, one guy goes ape$hit and spits on a cop then runs behind the tiny wall seperating the cell from the toilet. he jams his foot in the toilet and starts flushing it in some weird attempt to flood the cell. The cops stormed our cell and hauled that guy out right now, one of the other dudes asked "where you taking him?" and the cops repsonse was and this is a quote "attitude adjustment".

Seriously? This guy was picked up in a drug bust. Cops miss stuff in pat downs all the time. Unlikely he was cavity searched, since he was just in a holding cell. Why do you think the guy was kicking and screaming, breaking his glasses and eating the glass, and carving **** into his arm with glass shards? That's not normal behavior, Dru. Even somebody who's starving to death will not eat broken glass on purpose. That's stuff you do when you're high on crank.


Also, I've never heard of a holding cell that didn't at least have a toilet, if not a sink with water. A sober person would drink from a toilet before letting themselves die of thirst. It will be interesting to see the facts, if this ever gets tried.

Bottom line: like every such story, there is much that we don't know.

Option #1 - The guy is a dirtbag and made everything up.
Option #2 - The guy is truly suspect...and embellished the circumstances (Wow, this would be ground breaking, eh?)
Option #3 - The guy is guilty of "something", but was treated with extreme prejudice.

I'll stop here. These ^ are usually the 3 scenarios that play out in such cases. For us to argue about it without knowing more facts? Priceless.

Well, jail would be a better alternative IF there was water available. Sure, he probably did at least deserve some water (non-bottled of course), but again, I don't worry about these things (holding cell accommodations) too much because I tend to know what types of things will land me there, and then I don't do them.

I think in cases such as this, no $ should be given to the victim but jobs should be terminated. What's the point of fining the tax payers? Les Stroud doesn't eat for a week at a time when he goes camping and Bear Grylls drinks his own pee simply out of boredom. If there's no permanent damage the dude doesn't need to be rewarded, if there is permanent damage then I may change my opinion.
