Need to cut 5 pounds in 8 weeks for comp

Best way to do this with minimizing strength loss?

Wanna get into the 181 class but weight 186 right now. All lifts are progressing but really want to get into the 181 class to take aim at some state records for the federation.
    Bench - 340
    Squat - 445
    Deadlift - 530

cut water would be probably easier, there's some books out there 5lbs of water isnt really that much. if its a 24 hour wieghin should be no problem to put the wieght back on same with the two hour. The art of making weight is a good one.

take a poop before weigh ins?

    ...j/k that wouldn't be enough at 181s. here's my water loading/cutting protocol:
water load: 3 gallons on monday, 2.5 on tuesday, 2 on wednesday, 1 on thursday, cut food noonish on thursday, cut your water at 7pm thursday, for a 3pm weigh in on friday. ('bout 20 hours before the weigh in you cut the water)

in order to load and bloat you need to eat high salt, high carbs on monday and tuesday. cut carbs and salt in half on wednesday, no salt on thursday, no carbs.

if your weigh in day is other than friday adjust one day forward or backward as needed.

make weight, then rehydrate aggressively, i do 2-4 liters of pedialyte, then 1 gallon of gatorade diluted 50% by water in the first two hours.

then salty foods and more liquids until you get all bloated.

you can yo-yo about 7-10% of your bodyweight in water weight easy.

the key is to get back to your starting weight as soon as possible after you make weight.

^^^ this is for 24 hr weigh ins, if you have a 2hr weigh in, I do not suggest cutting unless you are an experienced lifter.

Thank you so much, this post is going into my powerlifting word document. I will be weighing in 5pm on Friday and lifting starts 10am on Saturday.

Other than this do you think that cardio/counting calories is a must do for now? I haven't been gaining any weight not doing this but just want to make sure.

absolutely not. doing cardio to lose weight is awful for strength.

going on a diet 8 weeks out is a great way to come in light and weak.

just cut the water as I say in that protocol and you'll be fine. I've gone from 290-270 and got back on the platform at 292, you'll be fine cutting 5lbs.

I found an outdated record sheet online for Michigan and in the 181 weight class here I could set the bench record atm. Its only at 275lbs on the sheet I saw. Whats it there bro?

    Still pretty crazy either way.

Did you do anything except stop drinking water? Like a diuretic or something? Sweat it out?

I've cut 12 lbs of water in 24 hours for a strongman comp (used the hair dryer in my hotel bathroom for the last hour to sweat out 5 lbs) and I've cut 7 lbs for a powerlifting meet. You'll stress about it until you do it the first time and realize how easy it is.

My 1st go to thing when I'm not drinking/eating while I'm cutting water is to get a double shot of espresso from starbucks and put 2-3 sugar packs in it and sip on it. It really gives you a good boost of energy and just mentally helps me out.

My second go to thing is Big Red gum.

    Good luck

You could do it without even trying with an excessive amount of fiber powder and a tin of grizzly
