There isn't a whole lot out there on 1,3 but you should google scholar 1,3 dimethylamylamine. You can see there is a guy in NZ who almost died using it as a party drug. However, the dosage is over 500mg which is 20scoops of jacked (BB.com won't sell anything over 25mg a serving). There is also a 10 person study I found and quite an extensive PDF from what I would presume to be the studies from the supplement companies because it specifically lists products. Nothing to indicate much of a problem. A bit of increased blood pressure for epi or norepi but no increased heart rate and these were the results from the 10 person study. I can't post links however because this is my first post. Just had to say something because I love the DMAA supps.

I personally don't have a problem with DMAA in controlled doses as it is a powerful stimulant. However, like it or not, is going to be banned as we know it in the market place. What I've begun to do is look for alternatives. I have tried a few: 1-MR, Fast Fuel, Friction, Presurge, etc. Thus far I have liked Fast Fuel the best because it is the closest feeling I got to the 1,3 feel. In addition, it has the most complete nutritional profile with a full dose of BCAAs. I have been taking two scoops of Fast Fuel before every workout and it has been giving me the best results. Second to that I'd have to say 1-MR, which formerly had 1,3 but was reformulated. Any thoughts on the best pre-workouts without 1,3?

Interesting GNC follow-up
Having a company like GNC defend this supp, while defying the FDA and keeping products with 1,3 on the shelves (at least in my local store in NYC, along with VitaminShoppe) is a good indication of its safety. It was also interesting to see VitaminShoppe's and GNC stock slightly rise after the FDA announced the crack down while both companies held their stance. That same day, when the FDA cited their ruling on the supplement, Amazon announced they were pulling the product, and their stock slightly dipped. Strange. I guess I would too be susspisious of the FDA cracking down on a product that has "potential" harmful side affects when abused, while other "legal" products available to 18+ folks kill hundreds of thousands of people, i.e cigarettes. Yet those are still "legal"....huh.
You can read the article, which I found compelling, of GNC's stance on 1,3 along with their independent studies and insight of FDA's crackdown, here - (I don't have 50 posts yet, so can't post a link in it's entirety) http : //bit.ly/IrcU4A
