Alright let's be serious for a second here
I like soccer. It's a fun sport and I play it myself regularly. But if you are speaking in terms of pure athleticism, nobody touches the USA. As fun as soccer is, when one of the most important skills in your sport is ACTING, it is difficult to claim it is "the best sport in the world." While foreigners may not like football or basketball, our best athletes play those sports and not soccer because that is where the money is.
Do you people not understand we spent 100+ years BREEDING the very best athletes in the world? Everyone screams black genetics 24/7 and then claims these huge clumsy white rugby players can compete. come on now.

5 minutes of research shows that Japan won both of the international baseball championships in the last decade
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Baseball_Classic
Serbia has more gold medals in FIBA, the international basketball championships
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_B...l_Championship
So two out of three of your supposed dominant sports you aren't even the best on an international stage, don't worry though brah being the best at NFL is something to be proud of you'll never lose that crown.Slow motion better than no motion

Lolling hard at Europeans. I just want to pinch your cheeks and tell you it's going to be ok.
The US is dominate in every sport and if rugby/soccer/whatever the **** else you play was relavent, I'm sure we would dominate too.
You can't say football isn't more entertaining than soccer lulz. Lying to yourself if you do.6'2

Depends on the soccer athlete. There are plenty of guys who could hold their own athletically against NFL players.
Start with Marvell Wynne, who ran a 10.39 100m his senior year of high school. Better than 99% of NFL players .That is elite. Plenty of soccer players were great youth track runners before making a name in the soccer world.
Strong moron.

U.S. college basketball's signature event generates almost twice the revenue per day of competition than American-university sports' other marquee brand: football's Bowl Championship Series.

Also, let's beef real tea for a second here. As someone who is from Northern Ireland, played Soccer and Rugby Union growing up and now lives in the US, i feel like I'm reasonably well informed to make a judgement on this.
I've seen the term athleticism continually coming up. IMO the best explosive athletes are in NFL, but in terms of the most well rounded athletes, rugby league players take it (size, strength, speed, endurance).
As for most skillful, I'd have to say Hockey or Soccer. Hockey is basically two sports happening at once, all players have to be able to skate, puck handle, engage in contact etc.
Soccer requires the endurance, speed, agility and depending on your style of play, strength. But something that people who have never played it wil not understand is that people grow up using their hands to do everything (throw catch etc), now try doing that with your feet, because that is effectively what a simple pass is in soccer, never mind hitting a 60 yard bal direct to someones feet.
As for the whole USA > All at sport argument. No. In terms of sporting success by population.... Australia.

Sorry but I would think it would be fairly obvious to anyone with a brain that NFL Football Players are the best pure athletes in any sport.
A few examples:
Calvin Johnson
6'6, 240 lbs
4.3 second 40 yard dash, AT 240 POUNDS
43 inch vertical leap, AT 240 POUNDS
11.5 foot broad jump
Vernon Gholston (I know he sucked at Football, was still a freak athlete though)
6'3 266 lbs
4.5 Second 40 yard dash, again, at nearly 270 ****ING POUNDS
41 inch vertical leap, 270 POUNDS!
Bench pressed 225lbs 37 times at the NFL Combine
Mario Williams
6'6 295 lbs
4.70 40 yard dash, absurd for someone weighing damn near 300 pounds
40.5 inch vertical leap, again, absolutely insane for someone that heavy
Bench pressed 225 lbs 35 times at the NFL Combine, with long ass arms
This isn't even mentioning some of the NBA freaks like Lebron James and Dwight Howard.
Sorry rest of the world, we have the best pure athletes of any nation. Period.NY Jets

This seems like a recurring theme with baseball *******s and their go to response.
"hurr dee hurr its hard to hit a ball with a sitck but because I can I am such a fckn athlete hurr deee derp."
my previous response rebuked your garbage perfectly
"youre partially right.
I may not be able to hit a 100mph fast ball but I gaurentee that I can Throw, Run, and Catch. Thats 70% of the sport right there.
Ohh and I can also wait around for something mildly exciting to happen for a ludicrous amount of time, so there is an additional 20%.
I can play 90% of baseball. "
