Question: How/When does one move on from this to another razor? While looking on Amazon I saw a crap ton of really expensive stuff. Is there a major difference?
You're gonna have a bad time with that brush. If it's not too late, I'd cancel that part of your order and buy something else. See if you can find an Omega boar on Amazon, sometimes they have them.

You don't need to move on to another razor, it's just that some of us like having a few options. Razors differ in materials used to make them, aggressiveness/blade gap, weight, handle length/girth, open comb vs. closed comb, etc. Its hard to know what you like in a razor unless you try a few of them out.

Which soap/cream will you be using?

Canceled it and went with an Omega bar. Thanks for that tip.

Also, I hadn't ironed out a cream yet, I was thinking Magic as it was recommended in some vids I looked at. Is there something much better? Anything that kills the chance of irritation/razor bumps.

You move if the razor you have is not working for you. The difference in material and workmanship is a big difference in razor choice. The modern razor companies like Merkur, ATT, Ed Jagger, Muele all have good choices and are recommended. In vintage Gillette trumps all, even modern razor companies.

Try a 2 band silver tip brush, they have good backbone and are luxurious for your face. I have the Wet Shaving Products/ prince model .http://wetshavingproducts.com/

I go with the grain, and slowly shave as i feel with my hand what areas need to shave, it is a feel as i go process. I usually load the shave cream on my guide hand and follow with the razor.

Head shaving requires a slight learning curve, it is easy once you get it. I use a Slim set at one, or a Ed Jagger with an Astra blade.

Cant go wrong with a Gillette Slim or Fatboy, the are war horses built like tanks that can shave your angus off. Set it at 5 and shave away.

You have a Gillette Black tip razor/Super Speed, they are mild razors. The next step would be a RedTip which is the most aggressive of the Super Speed razor series.

Love it, I find after a nice shower, no matter the size of the stubble/beard hair, the hair just wipes off my face, water only. Without even shaving cream or oil.
Try not to shave with out shave cream though too often, it is for protecting your skin against the sharp blade.

That feel when still cut my neck a bit with my DE after a few years of shaving. Dat laziness and lack of care.

If you havent done DE, please take your time, clean the razor often, use cold water after the shave, use after shave.

I still break out a little bit of razor rash but no where near what it was the first few times. Its such a close shave! i love shaving now

Derby's aren't bad for some people. They aren't a bad blade if your facial hair isn't really thick.

Yea I'd consider it a necessity. You can find Nivea sensitive after shave balm at most drug stores or groceries. It's good sht.

Damn, first shave ever with a razorock soap and it was flawless. Not as slick as my other stuff (mikes/MWF) but pass 2 and 3 were awesome. No irritation, amazing smell. On the bright side its a super soft soap so I could lather with my silvertip.

    9.8/10. Would recommend.
I like fast cars, nice watches, sharp knives, and good smells.

Coming in here makes me sad.... I sent my straights out to be honed and I am still looking at another week or two. I still shave with my super-speed but it isn't that same.......

and with the alum block just wet and rub on your face?
