Well, I cannot speak for Sy, but my interpretation of her post was that the link on the Misc was not very useful in understanding why men would choose to refrain from something that is pleasurable and natural.

I do understand why it would be helpful for someone dealing with an addiction to p*rn (which is what the other link on the Misc was about)--the dopamine receptors are over-stimulated (pun intended ) and need to be rewired.

However, I have to admit I am surprised that the act of masturbation would have such an impact on the average male's motivation and ability to think.

it's hard to tell who was 'addicted' or not. i don't think everyone on the misc who benefitted from 'no-fap' was necessarily jacking it 5 times a day to some kind of extreme fetish before. but yes, nowadays it's easy get addicted because it's so easy to bombard yourself with bursts of instant gratification. obviously the improvement would be linked to the dependency in the first place

I have met quite a few girls that don't masturbate , needless to say they all had one thing in common and that is a very bad relationship with their own sexuality
