people like you make me sick. You bump an album one time and you're already judging it calling it trash. True music heads know that you can't judge an album based on the first listen. Some of my favorite albums of all time, I hated the first time I listened to them.
It just rustles me hard, because I also make music, when people don't appreciate the time an effort that goes into projects. It took me 3 years to make something, but it takes you an hour to listen to it and call it wack.
fuk you, man, fuk you

where did I say I listened to it once? I've bumped it around 10x today minimum and its just awful. I'm not alone, look at the discussion on Reddit:

Mixed reviews. I've been a TDE fan for years but this year they're not living up to the hype whatsoever.

I highly doubt you have listened to an album that just leaked / released a few hours ago 10 times already.
music is not a disposable art form. You don't listen to it and throw it away. Take your time with it and really try to the artist vision.
here is a music video me and my boy just did

You left off the backslash on your embed code so I fixed it for you.
This is approaching one of those "art is subjective, so enjoy what you enjoy how you enjoy it" discussions that usually gets out of hand here. Despite the fact that I should know better by now, I'm gonna throw in my $.02 anyway.
I agree with you that some art -- dare I say nearly all art that is capable of providing longterm enjoyment -- requires some time to digest and let its concepts marinade in the mind a bit. This is not to say that certain works can't elicit immediate enjoyment, but that full enjoyment of art is often found only in mature experiences.
On the other hand, sometimes it is readily apparent when a certain piece simply does not mesh with one's predilections. Time, unfortunately, is a finite resource, and nobody should feel compelled to slog through repeated listens of an album they are not enjoying in the hope that they experience some sort of great epiphany that unveils to them an artist's intended vision and, in doing so, increases their appreciation of the album. It seems to me that, for FS2, Ab-Soul's new record falls into that category. This doesn't mean that the album has no redeeming qualities, just that it isn't at all inline with FS2's musical taste and probably never will be.
As for people dismissing your music: do not be disheartened. As I said before, good music often takes time to digest, and will often be dismissed by those unwilling to devote the time towards digestion. Don't seek validation from others of your musical talent and you'll never be disappointed by their responses to it. Make music that you find interesting and enjoyable, and I guarantee you there will be at least one person out there that connects with it on the same or a deeper level than you do.
My modus operandi is, generally, to not delete/discard an album that I am not enjoying upon the first or second listen. I will discard an album however, on the very rare occasion that the music is truly terrible and there is no remote chance of myself ever finding redeeming qualities in it. More often then not, however, I will leave the album in my library, to be rediscovered at a different time, in a different state of mind, by the good fortunes of Apple's shuffle algorithm. Usually, my opinion of the piece will not have changed. Skip. But every once in a while something that I initially passed over clicks in my mind in a way that it didn't initially, and I rediscover albums and joyful experiences that would have been discarded along with those albums had I not chosen to keep them for a later date. I've found the cost in used data storage is easily outweighed by the pleasure of rediscovery.
The example of this philosophy paying off which stands foremost in my memory is with Chance the Rapper's Acid Rap mixtape. As I talked about in my Top Hip-Hop Albums of 2013 post, I was initially really off-put by Chance's voice, but after putting the album down for several months and revisiting it, the voice no longer bothered me, and I've come to really, really enjoy the album. A sample for those that may have passed on it before.
Sorry for the long-winded, highfalutin nature of this post. Was bored in Bar prep class and needed something to distract me. Talking about this stuff is more interesting than Civil Procedure, so I figured I'd take my time. Sorry I haven't been posting as much, I should have more free time after the exam at the end of July.Last edited by bob_the_damaja; 06-24-2014 at 07:41 PM.

You'd be amazed the sophisticated words you can learn by listening to refined artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd. Classic Autological Word

How old school and hardcore are we talking? Got an era or artists with similar sounds that you're looking for?
Edit:
You ever listen to Spice 1's album, "187 He Wrote?" Dope classic gangsta album that's way under-appreciated imo. Bay area ish.
