Latest pet I caught for fish tank (pic) mirin'?

Some people like to buy stuff for their aquarium, I prefer to find things in the wild. Besides making care easier (brb, room temp is fine), I think it's cool that everything is local.

Here is my newest edition, actually got two of them, but only bothered to take a pic of one, they look nearly the same so dealwithit.



Had em for a few weeks now and they are one of the coolest aquarium pets I have had. They are very active and fun to watch. They creep up on food and pounce on it even if the food is dead, brings the lulz.

How many gallons is your tank and what do they eat?

Put some living things they can eat, film them killing it, show ti the misc and acquire greens.

I used to do the same thing OP. I caught and kept an alligator gar for several years when I was in highschool. Fed it goldfish.

that some kind of newt brah? use to have a viaquarium, half water half land tank with newts, frogs, salamanders ect... cool stuff. i would invest in a heater or cooler for the tank depending on where you live they will do fine for awhile but will develop a wierd angus disease if temperatures are not right(srs).

They are in a 12 gal. Frozen bloodworms for the most part.

Salamander I think, not really sure what the difference is though.

Knowing what you have is the only way for proper husbandry.

I have never kept Salamanders but over the years of keeping FW/SW fish I picked up on the fact that different types of salamanders require different tank setups like terrestrial, semi aquatic, and aquatic.

Bloodworms are probably ok but never assume that something is good for them without knowing for sure. It looks more like a Newt to me, but can't say for sure.

Eastern Newt. They're all over my dad's reservoirs.

temp depends on type of newt, find out what kind they are, (think there called jeweled newts not scientific name) and do research, remember in wild they have ways of dealing with temp changes and i think they also secrete bacterias for protection or something from there skin and such that need proper temperatures and water flow/filtration so that the levels of the bacteria dont become toxic especially in a 12 gallon tank, you will notice if something is wrong if they start developing redness around there anguses. good luck there cool pets and post some vids of them tearing some **** up.
