How Can You Tell if Your Metabolism is Slowing Down?

This has been bothering me for about a week. Summer is coming so of course people are dieting etc. And ive been dieting for 8 going on 9 weeeks now. Down 14 lbs but i feel like my metabolism is slowing down somewhat. ive been at 1800-2000 cals since w/refeeds periodically. Im not feeling tired, crappy, cold, etc and my lifts have virtually stayed the same. Im just not AS hungry and it feels like my body's sort of adjusted to this number of cals.

    What can i do??

If you actually want to figure it out, find your maintenance caloric intake and see where you're at.

I'd try week of eating at maintenance (or 100-200 cals over) and then go back to a 500 cal deficit.

    What's your bf%?

Well its slowed from 2lbs a week to about 1, and I think im at 11%. My thing is that im getting ready for a comp and i have about 15 more lbs to lose to be stage ready, and im doing the whole prep by myself...Do i really need to take a week to eat at maintenance or can it be 2 days where i up my cals then it'll return to normal?

Pic from last week. About 193 here and im 192 now

Metabolic slowdown is hugely exaggerated. Or, the adaptive component is at least. Obviously, as you lose weight your metabolism will lower but the rest you really shouldn't worry about, especially at your age.

^^So your saying it hasnt really slowed down, my BMR has just gotten lower bc i weigh less?? I am 14lbs light so that does make sense..so i should re-adjust my cals based off my new weight? (ive basically had the same num of cals since day 1).

Calories are fuel for the body. If you dont give your body enough fuel, it will start to slow down your metabolism to conserve energy because it thinks you're starving. Some other factors that slow down the metabolism is obviously aging with time, and also Anti-depressants.

Yes, that's exactly right. The highest adaptive drop in BMR ever recorded was 15% and that was under extreme starvation conditions.
