I currently do 4 sets of 6-8 reps. I usually keep pushing until I can get 4 sets of a full 8 reps then I will add weight the next time. Is that considered heavy?

Most people say "lifting heavy" is lifting 85-90% of your 1RM or more.
Still, what you have going on is actually smarter than just dogmatically making sure to lift a certain 1RM percentage. Nothing is as tried and true as lifting a weight until you can get more reps, then adding weight and starting the process over again.

'Heavy' is a heavily relative term. I mean, the weight you 'fail' with at 6-8 reps will not be as heavy as the one at 3-5 reps, but the 6-8 rep weight will be heavier than the 10-12 one. In layman terms, 6-8 rep sets seem like a good compromise between heavy-strong reps (1-5), and heavy-hypertrophy reps (8-12), lol

Heavy is when you're done with the set and you say, "man, that was heavy."
An example of heavy lifting would be doing squats and then when you're done you say, "man, that was heavy."
Not heavy is when your're done with the set and you say, "man, that was not heavy."
An example of not heavy lifting would be doing squats and then when you're done you say, "man, that was not heavy."Look under your chair. YOU GET A REP, AND YOU GET A REP, REPS FOR EVERYONE! If I get a rep, you get a rep, every time. Give me a link to make my life a little easier.
If you don't give me a link and you didn't post in the thread you rep'd me in, I'm not gonna go searching for you. I'll get everyone on recharge.
