If it is hamstring flexibility that you are asking about, you can try to use a door frame/column or anything stationary to support your heel while you lie flat on your back. When I was doing rehab for my knee, they made me do those for 5 mins (each leg) every day. For me it was more effective than anything with shorter duration.

A lot of it has to do with strength too. If, for example, your hamstrings are weak, your body will avoid letting them get too elongated for safety reasons and tighten them up. Strength train the area, stretch more often, warm up doing mobility work

What do you need to be flexible for OP? I can't put my leg out straight in front of me, but I can push kick people who are 6 feet tall in the face, sometimes you gain the mobility to do things by repeatedly doing those things, not touching your toes for 10 seconds.

check out the book stretching scientifically

    you can find stuff online

basically you need to do dynamic stretches in the morning and before working out, isometric stretching at the end of a workout, and static stretching to cool down (fact check me though its been a while since i looked at it)

you can google all of the types i just listed

    also try hot yoga!
