I'm about 6'2" and 180 pounds. How many calories do you guys eat in a day? I get around 3000-3200. I should probably shoot for more but it's a lot of work. I use the My Fitness Pal app to track my calories. I'm interested to hear what you think of Shortcut to Size Sean, I've been doing Starting Strength for about 3 weeks and I'm liking it so far.

One thing that helps me get over 3000 calories is making smoothies. My smoothies are 8 oz milk, a few blueberries and strawberries, a scoop whey protein (150 cals), one or two tablespoons of peanut butter, a whole banana, and sometimes a raw egg...ends up at over 500 calories. Have two of those and your adding 1000 calories.
Though if I do have two my second one doesn't contain the whey protein, it's too expensive and having too much of it messes with my stomach.
Cool, I'll check back in and get your opinion on your program. Thanks

Hey man! Ectomorph here. Started out a skinny 125# and have been as big as 198# during bulking. Just did my first bodybuilding comps and discovered that I lean up REALLY easy, so we had to modify my diet to keep me cut but full (which meant my teammates hated me during the last two weeks of prep since I had to keep my carbs). Cutting is way easy for me, as I learned, but adding mass is always the real challenge...but it can be done. The coming year is going to be a real challenge since we are gong to keep my diet really clean during bulking so I won't have much fat to cut when contest time comes around again. So that means a lot of the high calorie, nutritionally questionable stuff will only get to appear on the occasional cheat day (yes, pizza hut meat lovers pan pizza, I am talking to you).

Yea it sucks being an ectomorph but its shouldnt be used as an excuse.
Sure you dont build muscle as fast as an meso but again DIET is crucial just like endo who wants to build muscle/lose weight.
I went from 138 to 160 in 3 months not saying im big not, i still look skinny but not AS skinny as i used to be.
The key is to eat lots of calories and protein to give your body enough nutrients to preserve and maintain you current muscle mass and also build new mass in result of the abundance.
Keep up the good work as building muscle takes lots of patience, hard work and perseverance.Last edited by Gandarilla138; 07-11-2012 at 03:49 PM. Reason: Wrong Body Type
