cutting sucks
Today was deadlift day and here it is.
135x12
225x10
315x8
365x5
405xFail
405xFail
405xFail
345x6
345x6
345x5
That was it for today, it was a very disappointing session for sure. I don't know what happened, but the 365 set felt like 455 and I could not move 405 for the life of me today. I was pissed enough to grind out 3 sets of 345 and they were pretty tough. Last week I was repping 405 for sets of 3, but this week it just would not move. Both hamstrings and lats/traps are on fire from the effort though. Hopefully next week will go better, I had thought for sure I would get 5 reps on the 405 this week, but gravity prevailed yet again. I weighed 164 this am.
Today's food

I would not beat yourself up to bad. I think you did the right thing by just doing sets at 345. Hopefully next week will be better.

That is still a super heavy session --- no need to worry though because you need those 'bad' sessions to appreciate the good ones
I'm still jealous ... I'd love to be able to tackle that volume and I would be lucky to get one rep of 365
Your weight is slowly going up so next week will be 405 x 5 for sure. In for the vid next week

I think you're doing great. The leaner you get the harder it is to lift at peak levels consistently. Just keep hammering away.

Good work, regardless brother. Still hella strong and there are days when things just won't happen. Don't focus on it and just keep on keepin' on. Good job my friend.

Not to worry Eric, just an off day. I know how it makes you feel but you powered though with some big work sets and you will get your sets at 405 next time. It doesn't take much at the upper end to get us out of sync, something on your mind, soreness somewhere else, just doesn't feel right, etc...... blow it off and get it next time, you know you are capable.

Thanks Vanguard. It is always depressing when you can't lift what you previously did, but I m sure the lack of rest and back issue weren't helping matters.

Thanks Andrew. 365 for several reps is in your very near future.

Thanks cmoore. The lean is leaving, it is bulk time. I want to pack on some mass. I know "I can't seem to make up my mind on which way to go".

Thanks FIM. I hope to add some weight over the next few months and hopefully I can add some weight to the bar as well.

Thanks fn257. I am hoping for a better session next Monday.

cutting sucks
Sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days. My internet has been down due to a tree across the lines. I have been lifting though and here are the past two sessions.
Wednesday 5/15/13 Legs.
Squats
Barx15
135x12
185x10
205x8
225x6
225x6
225x6
225x5
185x8
SLDL's
135x12
185x10
205x8
225x6
225x6
225x6
That was it for Wednesday. I skipped Tuesday's back session due to a 15 hour work day and my lats/traps/hams were fried from monday's deadlifts. I decided to do legs on my normal off day Wednesday and move my back session to today.
Thursday 5/16/13 Back and Triceps
Bent over rows
135x12
155x10
185x8
225x6
225x6
225x6
185x8
185x8
SkullCrushers
55x15
65x12
75x10
85x8
75x10
75x10
That was it for today. My plan is to eat good and keep the sessions simple with heavy volume over the next few months and try to add some quality mass. Knowing me this may change soon, but it is the plan for now. I have ate good for the past few days, Tuesday and Wednesday were very similar to today although I have no idea how many calories were consumed since I couldn't log them. Today's food

Plenty of good work still Eric .... squats, SLDLs and rows all looking very strong and lots of volume. No need for lots of accessory work when you're sticking to those big compounds

Eric look into 5/3/1 boring but big. It might be something you would be interested in trying.

Great suggestion as well.

Thanks Andrew. I am thinking for adding as that fewer exercises with heavier weight and volume is what I need. I will likely stick with just a few exercises per session but put all I have into them.

cutting sucks
I was still having internet issues yesterday, but hopefully they are resolved now. I mowed and weedeated all day yesterday at my moms house, then came home and lifted. Work was painful today with heavy shoulder and trap DOMS. Here is what I did yesterday.
DB OHP's
30'sx15
30'sx15
30'sx15
30'sx15
30'sx15
Front DB Raises
20'sx15
25'sx12
30'sx10
Facepulls
50x15
60x12
70x10
BB Shrug
135x15
185x12
225x10
275x8
315x6
315x6
315x6
That was it, doesn't look like much but my shoulders and traps are tore up today. I ate good the past two days as well, I weighed 165.5 this AM.
I may have to slow down on the weight gain in the next week or two, but plan to eat big for now. Today's food I would like to up the protein a little and lower the carbs a bit, but it will take some experimenting to figure out the right foods to do it with.

75 reps on OHP plus your front and rear delt work would make your shoulders sore! good work, good volume on shrugs also. Strong workout, kept pushing!

I think that's a good idea, especially if you're a bit more press3d for time with the new job .. you want to make sure that you get the max bang for your buck from lifting time, plus you've got the strength and stamina to make it worthwhile sticking to a few bigger lifts
Strong volume on the shoulder and trap session Eric and nice bulking ... 165.5 pretty much the same as me but you are a lot leaner. No way do you have to worry bout getting fat yet

Great workout! I can see why the shoulders and traps were sore Eric.
