Guys, is it safe to say that Lee Priest is the greatest under 5'6" bodybuilder ever? Or is it Franco Columbu? Lee Labrada and Shawn Ray are not under 5'6", so they don't qualify.
Or can we consider guys like Danny Padilla, the late Mohamed Benaziza, Mohamed Makkawy and Thierry Pastel as better or worthy choices for argument? What do you think? David Henry?
I'm not sure if some very young guys here in the forum know all the names I listed above but help yourselves and feel free to google. You might want to add names of short bodybuilders I missed.

Although not as big as some of the aforementioned, Chris Dickerson won the "O" sometime in the 80's.
EDIT: He is listed on Wikipedia as 5'6". He won the Olympia @ 43 years of ageLast edited by JayPSlugger; 04-23-2012 at 04:32 PM.

Chris Dickerson I forgot to include just because I'm not really sure if his true height falls below 5'6". Dexter Jackson is about as tall as Shawn Ray. Anyway, Steve Brisbois is another short bodybuilder in the mold of Labrada. He's about 5'4" and hails from Canada.

Gotta be Lee imo.
''There’s this battle over waterboarding at places like Guantanamo Bay. I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''

Makkawy 2nd in '83 and '84...was rooting for him...awesome bodybuilder...one of my all time favorites.
I always loved this blurb about him (actually he beat Haney previously):
Egypt’s Mohamed Makkawy stood just an inch taller than Danny Padilla, but he made just as big an impact on pro bodybuilding as did his fellow honoree. Makkawy’s stature within the sport could be more easily measured by the esteem he garnered from fellow competitors than from his height; among his vocal fans was the great Mike Mentzer. In addition, a memorable photograph depicts a grinning Lee Haney, less than a year shy of the first of his eight Olympia wins, hoisting Makkawy into the air on the occasion of just having been defeated by his much smaller rival at the 1983 English Grand Prix.
Despite the groundbreaking size, shape and overall quality of young Haney, Makkawy’s ethereal qualities bordered on human physical perfection.

Lee Priest is the Ronnie Coleman of the short bodybuilders. He is not the prettiest but he is or was the freakiest in terms of mass and conditioning.
