Look, I'm not advising you to use this as an excuse to not workout. I'd been training for about a month straight with no days off and I was seriously feeling it. I had no energy, no motivation, no well... Anything! I realized that after my 2+ month cut I needed a break. Nothing drastic but a day off here and there really does help. Just yesterday I had absolutely no motivation and thought about going back on a bulk (lol I'm ~18%). Today, I woke up motivated as ever. Already finished my workout today and absolutely cannot wait for my next workout!
Moral of story: if on a cut, and you're feeling groggy, unmotivated, and just shiity overall, take some time off until you are ready to kill it in the gym again. I only took one day off, as that was all I needed.

It might sound silly but taking a rest day is easier said than done. Once you get into a groove you just want to keep going and going. I am a little obsessive. So if working out 4 days a week is good, 5 is better, then 6 must be amazing, then all of a sudden you are working out the entire week. I am my own worst enemy, I have a tendency to start overtraining, it's hard but rest days are needed.
Train insane, or remain the same.
If the bar ain't bending you're just pretending.

i came here to post this. When your not dedicated its easy to skip a day or even two because it seems like a chore, but when you actually are dedicated.... working out becomes a daily habit like smoking or showering or pooping, if i miss one day it freaks me out a little. I compare it to smoking because you get a good high off of the workouts if yur doing it hard enough. Hell that might be the reason i can't stop or take a day off running (runners high).

you NEED time off. im not saying take like a month off from training but even if you're in a groove, and i've been there throughout my transformation where i was itchy to work out but it was an off/cardio day, but you need days off. you wont gain anything from working out. 7% is done in the gym 93% is done resting, nutrition and resting OUTSIDE of the gym

For the first 10 weeks, I lifted weights 3x a week and did 30 mins to 1 hour of cardio everyday. Needless to say, that schedule left me not being able to push my maxes during my weight lifting sessions. So I agree with your post, take your rest days people. It definitely helps and you will notice the strength replenished when you're at your next lifting session.
