Fo sho. Did a bit of financial juggling today that should save me about 350 - 400 a month in State and Fed Taxes. Upped my 401k contribution by 5k a year which lowers my pretax income by that much and I signed up for a pretax child care account with knocks my pre tax down by another 4.5k. We are also contemplating having the wife go part time to make sure we stay away from the 28% tax rate threshold of 140k ish. I have a feeling that 28% cut off will be dropped lower next year and want to stay in the 25% range.

I was also thinking that if the wife and I got divorced and she stayed part time she would be a single parent and could qualify for some govt assistance and make up the difference she was getting giving up full time. We'd still live together and everything'd be the same, we'd just be getting some of that guvment cheddar. It would also free up 750 a month in childcare.

She had her first kid at 16 or 17. I was tempted to bring it up in regards to her decision making, but I refrained.
