Hi, my name is FrmrHoss and I'm a recovering wannabe bodybuilder?
For years I have kept my workout log in the Scivation/Derek Charlebois subforum. Over time, I've picked up a few loyal subscribers to my thread and met a lot of cool people from that subforum, but it's time to give up the pretension that I will ever be stepping on stage in a man-thong slathered up with Dream Tan. This past weekend, I competed in my first ever powerlifting meet and had a blast and training for strength has been much more enjoyable ever since it became my focus probably 18 months ago.
I competed in the 181 class and ended up going 8/9 with my best lifts ending at 340 (a 5 lb PR) / 255 / 460 (a 25 lb PR) so it was all in all a really good day for me, and a great experience all around. I did a little write-up of the meet here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post866513421
For now, I'm taking a little bit of a deload week before hopping aboard the 5/3/1 train for a while though I've been doing some reading of Reactive Training Systems lately and find his writing very intriguing (and definitely appeals to my inner geek) so I may keep that in the back pocket for later. And of course, with how much bench sucks lately, the idea of a Smolov cycle is always in my head as well. Let the fun begin!
