Another first - caught a flathead on a chunk of hot dog

The catfish were biting like the food was all going to be gone tomorrow. I have four keepers on the stringer tied to the neighbors dock cleat. One nice channel, two smallish (2 pounds) blues and one little (3.5 lbs) flathead all caught on hot dog chunks. Caught twice as many little ones, lost or missed at least twice as many unknowns and had one serious break off halfway in.

I am loving the warmness.

I'm just too lazy and too pressed for time to get other baits and try them. I always have some hotdogs laying around.

im not surprised you caught them on this. i usually use fish heads for channels and bulls

I pay no attention to temp. I just throw some bait (usually hot dog chunks) off the bow of Ilana and they either bite it or they don't. If I'm really desperate, I'll throw some of Serena's cat food off the bow. Sometimes they go crazy for that stuff.

Just wondering because Im a noodler and water temp dictates what time they start nesting.

Vienna sausage from the Dollar Store works great and is just the right size. Me likes the chicken liver better though as bait of choice for cats up where I live on a slip bobber rig.
