Optimum Performance whey vs Gold Standard whey

Ive been a gold standard guy for quite some time now, but with the rising price in protein am looking at another option, which is the Performance whey. With the sale they are running its only $.53 a serving whereas Gold standard is $.71 a serving. Would it make a difference at all if i went to the performance whey? I understand the gold standard digests faster, but the nutrition facts are very comparable.

HEY!!! does anyone actually look at the labels on what they are taking?? Performance whey is 54% protein per 100g... Thats the worst specs I've seen since Syntha 6. You've been suckered by marketing. Even if it was all whey concentrate it should be closer to 80%.

    @RaginAzN nice call.

The main difference is that Pw has more fat in it than gold standard. I bought 3 jugs of PW when it was buy 2 get 1 free and didnt notice much difference from gold standard.

BB.com's protein was on sale this weekend for $24 for a 5lbs tub. Sounds like you missed out on that one.

Ive tried Whey consintrate+ isolate, just isolate, and hydro whey and didnt notice any difference between them all. The only thing it did was make my wallet lighter due to isolate and hyrdo being more expensive.

    Gold Standard 5lb = 1776g actual protein per bottle @ $52.99 = $.03 per gram of protein

    Performance Whey 4lb = 1250g actual protein per bottle @ $39.74 = $.03 per gram of protein

Both are the same price per gram of protein, that should make the choice easier. Do you want all the extra fillers in the Performance Whey?

So I just bought a 4.5 lb Optimum Nutrition Performance Whey Isolate from Costco because it was on sale and I was running low at home, but before I opened I wanted to check online to make sure it didn't taste horrible or have any problems. However, I'm not sure where you guys are getting your stats from because the nutrition facts on this bottle read:

140 calories (37 grams per serving)
    1 g Fat
    3g Carb/1g Sugar
    30g protein

    That's a protein per gram/serving of 80+ %

With those stats it seems like a pretty good protein shake as long as it doesn't taste like crap and onsale it was about $.28 per gram protein. Did they change their product lines or something because it doesnt seem to match a lot of the information I'm seeing posted online?

Optimum Nutrition Whey Isolate is the awesome from Costco!

First of all this is not that horrible ON Performance Whey which is their cheapest protein full of concentrate and fillers. This is an exclusive item to Costco for this month and is 100% Isolate. After the $12 discount, it is $45.99+tax (Normally $57.99) which is an amazing deal given that Isolate is the most purest from of protein. I paid almost $80 for Isoflex which is 100% pure isolate also but I will continue to pay that because the PBC tastes amazing and this has been the best quality protein I have ever had. This ON Performace Whey Isolate is better than their Gold Standard because their Gold Standard is mostly concentrate. Even at $57.99, its a hell of a deal IF you are looking to purchase 100% pure isolate.

As far as taste, it actually tastes very good! 10x better than their gold standard vanilla which i think is so bland and dreadful to drink. This actually tastes like a vanilla shake. I would suggest stocking up being that the price is so cheap for isolate.

Just to follow up on my last post:

    A) The price per gram of protein was supposed to be .028 not .28
    B) Opened it up on the recommendation of some posters and I have to say, it tastes pretty awesome. Hits you like a vanilla shake with little to no aftertaste. It also blends incredibly well, with some other protein shakes I'll get clumping, but this stuff is kind of insanely smooth.
    C) With impressive nutrition stats and good safety record (the high-end ON stuff is the only protein shake that had no detectable heavy metals back when consumer reports did that test) on top of a substantial Costco discount, this is pretty much my staple protein shake from now on. Stock up while it's on sale...lol
