it was open gym so i took advantage. my husband is home so he took over childcare and i rode my bike and went to xfit and lifted. woot!

i worked on hang clean some more. i am still pushing the bar out instead of having a nice vertical bar path. it will take a while i guess. used a PVC pipe and then the 33lb oly bar and added 20 lbs and then 20 more. i wanted to see if heavier helped, but it didn't. this is truly an issue where my body is making it go out. i should try and video it.

    bike ride to gym
    HBBS practice
    barx5
    barx5
    65x3
    85x1
    105x1 5sec pause
    115x1 5sec pause
    115x1 5sec pause
    125x2 5sec pause
    125x2 5sec pause
    135x2 5sec pause
    145x2 5sec pause
    155x1
    155x1
    165x2
    175x2

    with body weight squats inbetween

hang clean practice up to 73x3x2

    deadlifts
160x10x5 with 60-90 seconds inbetween sets

    bike ride home

Good squatting wt G-dog! How far is the bike ride each way? That's an excellent warm up to get things moving and HR up btw. I want to see your HCs.

thanks! that high bar back squat is unnerving for me. every time i descend, i feel like i might become unbalanced. still getting used to narrow stance and upright torso. i didn't know how high i could go. 175 came pretty easily but i chickened out going higher.

the pause squats helped me to deepen the squat, loosen my ligaments and hopefully they will get me more comfy with this new stance. they were recommended by one of the coaches there.

the bike ride is only a mile. it's just a few minutes to get there, but it does help with warming up. plus i just like to ride

my lovely dear sweet husband set up my power rack for me. i just need to clear out a bit more of the garage and then i can start video'ing me with my oly lifts. (i dont wanna video at xfit. still too insecure ) i would love feedback.

we are off to cattlemen's steakhouse out in texas today. they have hayrides, a children's zoo, and a snake pit! the kids are gonna love it. plus steak. of course. yum.

it was fun! the snakes are indoors, so no pit, but you could see tham all curled up and still. about 20 rattlesnakes, semi-hibernating.

i had filet mignon. expensive but so yummy.

    w/u
    spiderman lunges
    10 squat jumps
    15 burpees (only did 10)
plank 60 seconds (sort of a plank)
side plank 60 sec each side (from the knee)
    bear crawl

    3 Sets of:
1a) “Light but Perfect”3 Overhead Squats + 5 Non Heaving Snatch Balances (bar only)
1b) 5 x ME Toes to Bar (knee raises. i can hardly hold onto the bar!)

    AMRAP 20
    7 Bear Complex (115/80) (i only did 53 lbs)
30 Double Unders (i only did singles)

finished 3 rounds of that. most of the time i was trying to catch my breath! there were two other people. one guy finished 5 rounds (don't know what weight he used) and one lady did 4 rounds, same weight as me. i am so not conditioned.

the lady said i look like i do crossfit and i laughed. i think she was just being nice. i shouldnt have laughed, but instead said thank you. i wanted to die. DIE. when am i going to be able to do an amrap of that without feeling like i am dying?

GJ jumping right into x-fit already, I have no idea what that stuff is but it looks impressive to me. Feeling like you're dying is sometimes good for you, in small doses. Lol at laughing at inappropriate times, I am terrible with that. Once laughed at this guy with a broken leg when he told me he got hit by a car (mind you he WORKS in a car dealership) so of course I thought he was being sarcastic and I was like LOL! I mean that's like me walking around with a lump on my head telling people a mini fridge fell on me. When I realized he was srs I had to hide my giggles because I was then picturing mini fridges falling out of the sky hitting everyone.

Well that train derailed quickly and let out a toxic gas over the entire city, sorry. I hope your mailbox is peppered, should be visited by the whimsical delivery frog of peace, or mailman perhaps, I dunno how they roll in NM.

Way to go Geek. Not just for what you're accomplishing physically at the xfit gym but for the mental work you've done to push yourself to do things way out of your comfort zone! Hell ya, kid!!!!

Also, I better kick it up a notch....you're at my heels.

ok this story makes me look really bad...

once when i was trying to talk to my father after years of radio silence. we were on the phone and he said "oh, i wanted to let you know that Lucky was run over by a car."

I started laughing my ass off... and then i stopped abruptly because i realised he was telling me baout his dog lucky... a real dog, and not making a joke about how unlucky lucky was.

so yeah... inappropriate laughter is my specialty. :embarrassed:

thank you *e-hugZ* it is a bit embarrassing to have to have all of these modifications because i can't even deadhang for ten seconds, much less do a pullup, and just jumping 6 inches off the ground for box jumps is scary for me, but i am really glad that i am pushing myself like this. new frontiers.

warm up stuff. bear crawls, etc.

    learning Snatch!
a bunch of pause snatches with PVC pipe and with 40 lbs (womens oly bar with light wts)

    Strength
1a) 4×5 pull ups (modified from the floor on my knees). getting better already!
1b) 4×2 Snatch from the Power Position (40 lbs)

    Conditioning
    40 lbs
    15 Unbroken Thrusters Rest 30
    12 Unbroken Thrusters Rest 20
    9 Unbroken Thrusters Rest 10
    6 Unbroken Thrusters
    Rest 90 seconds
then it was supposed to be 2 rounds of 35 double unders and 4 wall crawls, but i made it to 35 singles and was done. my shins are killing me from all of the jump roping.

    Training Notes
i'm adding in my strength training next week. i think i'm ready. besides i miss it.

the snatch is uncomfortable for me, but i really wanna do it. i am such a powerlifter by stance and use of body, that although i have the strength for it, i do not have the tiny muscles adjusted to all of these new positions. plus it's hard to learn and i feel like i'm shoving the bar out in front of me rather than having it travel up my body, and forget about me landing in an OH squat. it's surprisingly scary to try and do that.

i wish i were in the happy phase. right now i am in the awkward n00b feels like a loser phase. it takes me forever to get body mechanics right. not one single power snatch ended up with me smoothly in an overhead squat. i had to purposefully do them after snatching the bar up.

/complaining. i'm just frustrated. which is stoopid i know, bc this was day one of learning to snatch.

    Diet Notes
diet is going well. week one chugging along. i'll likely be 223 or under within a week (only saw 223 for one day a few weeks ago, then right back to 226. herp derp). really wanna be under 220 by the end of the month.

I missed the post on the decision to add in CF.

It will be awhile before you don't feel like death after a workout. Just comes with the territory as we are using the muscles at a rate and rep range that they are not accustomed. Typically takes several weeks to get some good adaptation if you get a couple CF workouts per week. There are so many varieties and combinations of movements that there will always be days where you feel like you got run over by a truck! We just recover faster.

I almost always scale the high rep oly movements as form is more important then #'s. Slow and steady.

Good luck on your new adventure!

So bloody late to the party.

If I had a pound for every person who mentioned this journal to me I would have enough to buy a small present for myself. (an expensive present)

IN for subs and not leaving.

    Carry on.
Ride it like you just stole it.

thanks, bsg. i got wary of them when they wanted us to do an AMRAP 7 of over 60 clean and jers interspersed with DU's. plus knee pain, shoulder pain and shin splints. oops! maybe im just not ready for that sort of stuff.
