    Substitute for close grip bench press?

    What can I do instead of close grip bench press to mimic the same movement?

    The reason why I ask this is that I always feel one arm (left) working more than the other.

    Will working with dumbbells and holding my elbows close to my torso have the same results as the close grip bench press?

    One arm dumbbell presses work as well in my experience. The only problem is you need to maintain balance, not just your arm but your body on the bench as well.

    One arm barbell close grip bench presses work too. But I won't even explain this, it's too complicated and your risk of injury increases like MAD with this exercise.

    Use a decline bench and keep elbows tucked at your side using a neutral (hammer) grip with dumbbells. Dumbbell skull crushers, overhead extensions, pullovers, and one-arm underhand grip cable push downs work well (isolations though.)
