    should i weigh chicken breast RAW or COOKED?

    on the nutrition facts label, it says 4oz = 112g = 24g protein

    there are two breasts per pouch, and each breast weighs about 8oz.

    but i've read that 2 oz of chicken breast is equal to a deck of cards. and each breast that i have, is about the size of two deck of cards. which equals 4 oz each, and not 8.


    something is not adding up.

    You can do it both ways, on the internet you may find nutritional facts of chicken either cooked or raw. But keep in mind that cooked values are much more inaccurate, due to the variable % of water weight loss, depending on how you cooked.

    Maybe buy your chicken somewhere else? I get mine at Sams Club.. big bag of eight 8oz pieces, and the nutrition label is for one piece (give or take a couple grams)

    wait. i get mine from there too. 8oz pieces each, right? but the nutrition facts gives information for only 4oz of chicken breast. so i double the protein from 24g to 48 g. its approximate of course, so far in my experience each breast is slightly less than 8 oz when i weigh them. which i don't mind too much, since i'm on a cut.

    I weigh it raw but 4oz of raw chicken breast after grilling it in the pan(no oil or water), usually comes down to about 3oz and 8oz->6oz and ect.

    4oz of raw chicken breasts has 120 calories, 24-26g protein, 1 - 1.5 g fat....all chicken is the same

    The way I look at it, is use what is on the bag, serving wise, and do the math with how many are in the bag.. Even if the nutrition facts are off by a bit, you should be able to kinda figure out what you need to do calorie wise after a couple weeks of weigh ins.. As of right now, I'm about 2 weeks in of strictly counting calories/macros and if I'm losing too much, I'll just add a bit more food I was being really anal about nutrition facts, but in the long run you just need to learn what your body needs.
    Learning something new here every single day... and I'm still not sure if I understand : /
