I work out 1 day upper body and 1 day lower body and rest 1 day and start another 2 days and rest 1 day again, repeat. Is it okay for me to drink whey everyday and does it help to drink when I'm at that 1 day not working out? Or would it be a waste of whey protein?

It won't hurt you. It's always better to get your protein (or any nutrients) from whole food though and on your off days the protein powder isn't going to make any difference for muscle gains. If getting enough protein from whole food daily is an issue then use the whey. I use syntha-6 every day to replace my breakfast just because it's fast and easy (and delicious) and gives a boost to my daily protein intake.

To be honest protein is protein is protein. If you need protein to reach your macros then drink whey if you need protein. This blog post explains whey a little further http://www.palermo-fitness.com/2012/...mentation.html

I drink 2 a day everyday. Been doing it for years. Whey tends to make me thirsty though so I drink a lot of water too.

Yes. It's a supplement to help meet your protein requirements, for example if you need 150grams of protein per day, and can only get 100 through dietry sources, supplement the rest with protein, even on non-workout days. It's not just used for people with an interest in bodybuilding, strongman or any other sports. It's a supplement to help aid a healthy lifestyle providing your diet is in check.

Whey protein is a quick releasing protein and is best taken when your body is in quick need of protein, such as immediately upon waking and immediately after a workout. Any other time it is better to get either natural forms of protein such as chicken because they will release slowly, or simply purchase some Casein protein to drink throughout the day because it also is a slow releasing form of protein and gives time for your body to absorb it. With how quick Whey releases, if your body isn't able to absorb it, it will be a waste and do nothing.

However, if a neutral spine is preserved throughout the lift this effect is minimal. In other words, to obtain the maximal effect from a belt, the lifter must lift poorly and in a way that exposed the back to a much higher risk of injury!”
